Job Description
The Department of Food Science and Technology seeks a Communications and Marketing Coordinator to provide communication marketing and development support for the Food Science & Technology Department. This position is responsible for telling the story of the FST department to a local state and international audience by writing articles and contributing to the VT news social media websites CALS and VT publications and other outlets. Additionally this position will lead public relations and marketing efforts for the department to promote programs facilities services and events.
Required Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Marketing Communications Public Relations Advertising Journalism or equivalent experience
Experience developing and executing a marketing plan creating a departmental/business image and oversight of promotional publication creation.
Familiarity with digital content strategy and management including web content and professional/organizational social media
Experience working with multiple communication platforms in a professional setting
Demonstrated experience with writing creating digital artwork and using photography to create innovative promotional content
Excellent verbal communication interpersonal time management and organizational skills.
Experience meeting deadlines and navigating multiple projects simultaneously
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Microsoft Office software web content management systems Adobe Creative Cloud applications and Canva.
A creative and entrepreneurial individual who proposes initiatives to enhance department and team success
Professional experience within an institution of higher education
Photography and video experience
