Job Description
- Employment Type: Part Time 17.5 hours per week
- Duration: Up Until 31 December 2025
- Remuneration: Level 7 $110 K $119 K (pro rata) based on experience 17 Super and leave loading
- Location: Kensington NSW

Why Your Role Matters:
The Senior Project Officer will support the development of a comprehensive integrated national surveillance system including biological behavioural and health service data for people who inject . They will assist with the implementation and dissemination of the Australian Needle Syringe Program Survey (ANSPS) and the Needle Syringe Program National Minimum Data Collection (NSP NMDC) project outputs.
The Senior Project Officer reports to the Senior Research Fellow The Kirby Institute and has no direct reports.
Skills and Experience:
- Relevant tertiary qualification in a health or science related discipline with subsequent relevant experience or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education training and experience.
- Proven project experience with an understanding of the project life cycle and development of project plans objectives and documentation.
- Demonstrated knowledge of infectious disease control and harm reduction programmes including Australias national bloodborne virus strategies.
- Familiarity with data collection issues related to injecting drug use and NSPs.
- Experience in data management and analysis and quantitative analysis of large datasets with statistical analysis packages (e.g. SAS STATA).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with highly developed interpersonal skills and the ability to work with staff and students from diverse backgrounds.
- Excellent time management skills with a demonstrated ability to respond to changing priorities manage multiple tasks and meet competing deadlines by using judgement and initiative.
- Proven project experience with an understanding of the project life cycle and development of project plans objectives and documentation.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and productively within a team but also to take initiative and work independently while managing competing demands.
- An understanding of and commitment to UNSWs aims objectives and values in action together with relevant policies and guidelines.
- Knowledge of health & safety (psychosocial and physical) responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
