Description

Job Summary:

Under the direction of the Assistant Store Manager the Customer Service Associate provides excellent customer service and cashhandling skills. This position reviews all activities associated with handling customer transactions and ensuring a positive shopping experience for every shopper in our store.

Job Status: Fulltime Hourly Nonexempt

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Maintains excellent customer service in all areas of the store.
  • Maintains a neat and clean cashier center area and sales floor.
  • Maintains correct change for all registers.
  • Ensures correct pricing is entered into the POS system.
  • Ensures all customers are greeted and get assistance as needed.
  • Ensures all registers balance at the end of each shift.
  • Handles customer issues as they arise.
  • Ability to:
  • Complete all types of sales transactions.
  • Complete and input markdowns percent and price override.
  • Recognize counterfeit currency.
  • Handle and control voids returns cash and credit card transactions store credits and special orders.
  • Places sold tickets on merchandise for pick up same day and 48hour holds.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to:
    • Train staff on POS procedures.
    • Maintain correct change for all registers.
    • Follow instructions and give directions.
    • Handle difficult customer situations.
    • Work flexible hours and/or shifts.
    • Communicate effectively with all levels of individuals both internally and externally.
    • Read write and communicate in English.
  • Computer skills preferred.
  • Inventory control knowledge preferred.
  • Supervisory skills preferred.
  • Bilingual/bicultural preferred.

Education and Experience:

  • Previous Sales experience.
  • Previous POS experience.
  • Previous cash handling experience.
  • Previous experience working in retail preferred.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands

  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • Operates in a store setting and requires constant times of sitting standing walking and repetitive motion and talking.
