Job Description:
Mechanical Engineer responsible for serving as the Air Vehicle lead for all VSG programs within the Aeronautical Systems Engineering (ASE) Group. The individual will be an external and internal expert and thought leader with deep and substantive technical expertise as well as advanced business knowledge and leadership capabilities within our Aeronautical Systems engineering team. Communicates with contacts inside and outside of the organization on matters of strategic importance to influence executive leadership on new concepts practices and approaches. Establishes overall direction for new processes systems and solutions for VSG contracts. Recommends and implements strategies and develops operational plans/goals alongside the VSG ASE Functional Manager
Essential Functions:
- Responsible for providing guidance coaching and training to other employees.
- Oversee the design of detail parts assemblies and installations for aircraft structures mission equipment installations and mechanical systems installations.
- Ensure proposals are vetted for accuracy in cost scope and schedule.
- Ensure programs are accomplished on schedule and within budget while complying with process/procedures and program requirements.
- Provides input into new products processes standards and/or operational plans that will have measurable impact on the achievement of overall function or business results.
- Ensure program airworthiness customer and company requirements are understood and met.
- Capable of influencing a wide range of audience and having demonstrated leadership skills to win support without direct reporting structure.
- Be able to walk to and from the flight line work in aircraft hangar environment and board/exit aircraft is required.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree in Engineering and a minimum of 15 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 13 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree minimum of 19 years of prior related experience.
- Experience running total lifecycle of programs including proposals bids planning assessing/managing risk and .
- Understanding of aircraft systems
- Understanding of various mission systems
- Familiarity with FAA (Part 23 and 25 and military aircraft airworthiness design approach certification process and requirements
- Knowledge of manpower planning milestone scheduling and related financial management
- Formulate strategic vision define implementation plan of action to achieve success.
- Capable of managing and working in an environment that is fast paced demanding with a focus on problem resolution and process improvement.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products to include Word Excel PowerPoint Outlook and Project
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance which requires U.S. Citizenship is required.
