What You Will Do
Pratt & Whitneys Mechanical Systems Externals and Nacelles (MSEN) engineering module is seeking for a highly motivated Senior Structures Engineer.
Perform structural analysis of both Externals and Mechanical systems hardware through both preliminary & detailed design validation certification and support of manufacturing and operational service.
Participate as the structures representative on multidiscipline integrated product teams providing design solutions that balance customer requirements for durability performance cost and weight.
Validation test coverage (both engine and rig) consisting of live monitoring of instrumentation response relative to applicable limits post processing test data and evaluation of test data relative to program requirements.
Support inservice field investigations.
Use FE and classical methods for strength stress/deflection vibration fatigue life and damage tolerance.
Work to advance technology and improve engineering standard work processes/methods.
Document analysis results and present conclusions to PW management and external customers.
English (read write speak) is required when communicating with customers coworkers or supervisors who only speak English.
Based on business needs the incumbent may be required to support other duties/functions within the company and have availability to travel up to 10 domestically.
Must be a U.S. Citizen. This position may require access to systems/tools that are restricted to individuals who possess US citizenship
Qualifications You Must Have
Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Aerospace or Civil Engineering.
5 years of engineering experience or advanced degree in Engineering with 3 years of engineering experience.
Experience with structural engineering experience with FE and classical methods for strength stress/deflection vibration fatigue life or damage tolerance.
U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
Qualifications We Prefer
Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering
Externals and/or Mechanical Systems hardware knowledge
