Job Description

Nuveen is seeking a Head of Technical Operations (ProjectEngineering& Delivery) to drive the associated BAU Engineering Technical Project function and associated disciplines across the Nuveen International I&O function.

The individual will have a proven technical delivery record managing of technical operations activities within an large complex technology department. This will include working with Nuveen operational service leads and provide technical oversight across Nuveen International platforms assist in the management of key suppliers and lead technical engagements across the Nuveen International business.

The position requires high level of technical influencing skills as well the initiative. Along with the ability to collaborate effectively with other members of the Nuveen/TIAA Technology group and business stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

He or she will oversee the Technology Infrastructure Engineering of all aspects of the Nuveen International Infrastructure & Operations services. The role will report to the Global Head of Infrastructure & Technology and will work closely with Nuveen Technology Operations(NTO) and TIAA counterparts to maximize the value of the firms technology investments leverage resources and spending power with a focus on lowering cost to serve and improving margins

The role is responsible for:

Accountabilities

  • Oversee the daytoday technology operations within NI with a strong focus on delivering exceptional enduser support and CX.
  • Supervise the design deployment and maintenance of critical IT infrastructure components and related projects including Networks EUS and Cloud based services.
  • Deliver secure reliable and high quality technology operations services ensuring all services meet or exceed defined SLAs and performance targets.
  • Oversee technical delivery of strategic and tactical projects within Nuveen International
  • Financial Management of the Nuveen International RTB and CTB Infrastructure budgets managing a regular interlock with NI Service Governance Lead.
  • Work with internal and external auditors as necessary to facilitate audits and provide the required evidence. Ensure compliance with these audits by building appropriate departmental checks throughout the year and close audit findings by implementing or overseeing appropriate process changes.
  • Management of I&O related Issues/Risks register within associated controlled frameworks
  • Ensure Nuveen Regulatory requirements within technology are adhered too.
  • Design and recommend continuous improvement of technology service within NI I&O
  • Drive compliance with technical standards policies and commercial frameworks.
  • Develop team members technical skills and leadership capabilities through mentoring and coaching.
  • Drive a positive proactive delivery and customerfocused culture and set of values across the team.
  • Oversee the overall system and infrastructure availability and develop a resilient infrastructure aligned with the company business goals and industry best practices ensuring that wider TIAA infrastructure plans support Nuveen Internationals growth and operational needs

The successful candidate will bring passion and innovation to this role.   • Financial commercial and strategic sourcing acumen and direct experience in managing a $MM budgets

  • Ability to build effective relationships with corporate officers function heads business partners and suppliers. The successful candidate will be a strong influencer and negotiator and will have applied skills across borders and cultures in a matrix organisation

  • Ability to contribute at both a global and local level within a global matrix organisation or large federated business environments
  • Experience of managing and leading significant change
  • The candidate will be able to instil confidence energy and purpose into the extended team driving a culture of personal accountability and ownership

Qualifications & Experience Required

  • 15 years experience in a senior technology leadership position (Infrastructure & Operations and a minimum of 5 years in Real Estate (Buy and Sell Side)
  • Degree or similar certification in a relevant field (Computer science) along with technical accreditations (Cisco Microsoft Citrix ITIL)
  • Strong teaming skills and experience to bring together diverse views disciplines and approaches
  • Experience of managing in environments of scale requiring complex stakeholder management and strong and determined leadership will be essential.
  • Systematic and rigorous planning of work and priorities
  • Highly developed organisational and people leadership skills will be coupled with outstanding communication and personal integrity including the capability to lead effectively in a crisis.
  • Handson demonstratable experience in multiple DC Infrastructure AD (EntraID) Cloud Technologies Mobile VC and deep understanding of Network and Cyber Security technologies.
  • Program risk and change management experience
  • Experience with interacting with AMS ITSM EUS Risk & Compliance and Cyber Security functions
  • Strong awareness of technology compliance and regulatory trends and their potential influence and applicability to Nuveens business and strategic objectives.
  • Experience implementing ISO 27001/13 framework practices and controls
