Job Description
Working as part of a wellestablished OLE team you will be responsible for managing and delivering safe economical and quality projects for a variety of clients to meet their objectives and requirements.
The Senior Overhead Design Engineer will report to the Team Leader/Principal Engineer and work together across all disciplines to achieve the best system design approach for each project. This role may include responsibility for leading a team of engineers and designers.
Job Responsibilities:
- Lead designer duties for OLE design Schemes.
- Delivery and management of the production of technical designs for OLE including Layout Plans Cross Sections Allocations Isolation Diagrams updates bonding designs and supporting reports and calculations.
- Ensuring designs are delivered in line with relevant current design standards are constructable and apply Safe by Design principles.
- Communicate effectively with other design/construction disciplines and subcontractors
- Respond to design queries during construction phase and attend online meetings if required.
Commercial
- Maintain cost effective standards for OLE designs
- Contribute to the development of continuous improvement plans
- Develop and maintain client relationships as appropriate
Managerial
- Manage time and resources effectively
- Manage performance and team development
- Manage the appraisal of staff competency
- Develop and manage subordinate staff in line with the Unit Business Plan
Professional
- Ensure a commitment to continuing CPD for self and others
- Delegate responsibility effectively
- Display creativity and problemsolving ability in approach to assignments projects and tasks
- Show capacity to improve effectiveness.
- Exercise leadership and interpersonal skills in the management and motivation of others
Qualifications :
- Master of Engineering degree (or equivalent education) in an appropriate engineering discipline from an accredited college or university.
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) or Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent in the relevant field from any global organization (e.g. Institution of Civil Engineers UK)
- 9 Years of Experience.
- Proven lead designer experience of significant Overhead Line technical design
- Comprehensive knowledge and Experienced in OLEMI and other OLE ranges i.e. UKMS Series1 Series2 Mk3B GEFF Mk1 SICAT SNCF UK1 etc.
- Familiar with Isolation diagrams and their update process.
- Understanding of Earthing & Bonding required for electrification
- Proficient in Bentley MicroStation CAD software
- Excellent communication and organization Skills.
- Understanding of CSMRA & Health and Safety including CDM
- Experience in managing teams.
- Candidates will be able to provide experience of working in a 3D common data environment working to BIM procedures and practices.
- Ability to develop OLE designs through the different stages of the project life cycle for complex sites
- Knowledge of the design processes of other rail disciplines and how they may impact OLE designs
