Overview
The Campus WiFi Subject Matter Expert (SME) Network Architect plays a vital role in ensuring that the WiFi infrastructure within the campus environment operates smoothly and efficiently. This position involves designing implementing and overseeing wireless network strategies that enhance connectivity and support a range of activities from academic programs to administrative functions. The Campus WiFi SME will work closely with stakeholders to assess current needs address challenges and incorporate future technologies. Furthermore this role is essential in fulfilling the institution s commitment to providing highperformance wireless access enhancing the user experience for students faculty and visitors alike. Key Responsibilities
- Design and architect robust campuswide WiFi networks.
- Conduct site surveys to assess wireless coverage and performance.
- Implement advanced wireless technologies to improve connectivity.
- Collaborate with IT teams to align wireless solutions with institutional goals.
- Optimize existing WiFi infrastructure for maximum performance.
- Develop and maintain documentation regarding network topology and configurations.
- Monitor network performance and troubleshoot connectivity issues.
- Evaluate and select vendors and thirdparty services for wireless solutions.
- Provide technical guidance and training for team members and users.
- Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with security standards.
- Plan for scaling the wireless network to accommodate growth.
- Manage project timelines and budgets for WiFi initiatives.
- Stay updated on industry trends and emerging wireless technologies.
- Engage with endusers to gather feedback and improve services.
- Collaborate with the cybersecurity team to enhance network security measures.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Technology or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in network architecture and design.
- Proven expertise in WiFi technologies and standards such as 802.11ac/ax.
- Familiarity with network security protocols and solutions.
- Strong problemsolving and analytical skills.
- Experience with tools for network analysis and optimization.
- Excellent project management skills with a track record of successful implementation.
- Knowledge of IP networking routing and switching.
- Ability to communicate complex technical information effectively.
- Experience working in educational or campus environments preferred.
- Certifications in networking (e.g. CCNA CWNA) are a plus.
