Job Description

A CBNlicensed and an international Microfinance Bank is seeking to hire a Chief Finance Officer


Job Objectives:
The Chief Financial Officer position is responsible for the planning implementation and management of the finance operations of the Bank. This includes but is not limited to the development and of financial management and operational strategy business planning budgeting forecasting and negotiations focused on achieving that strategy as well as the ongoing development and monitoring of systems designed to preserve company assets and report accurate financial results.


Responsibilities:
  • Report financial reports to shareholders the Board of Directors and regulators.
  • Manage the Financial Control Treasury Business Reporting Investor Relations Budget and
  • Ensure the implementation of tax strategy and compliance.
  • Develop performance management metrics that support and drive the achievement of the
  • Bank s strategic objectives.
  • Oversee the capital structure of the Bank determining the best mix of debt equity
  • and internal financing for optimal operations.
  • Identifying and managing financial risks of the Bank.
  • Ensuring legal and regulatory documentation is properly filed and monitor internal
  • controls and compliance with extant laws and regulations.
  • Establishing and developing relations with relevant external partners and stakeholders.
  • Provide thoughtleadership in support of the MD/CEO and Executive Committee of the Bank
  • Ensuring credibility of the Finance operation by providing timely and accurate analysis of budgets financial trends and forecasts.
  • Optimal performance management of the business.
  • Optimal treasury performance and balance sheet management.
  • Identifying and addressing financial risks for the Bank.
  • Digital transformation of the functions within the Finance Division of the Bank.
  • Strategic thought leadership on the evolution of all components of the Finance Division in keeping with the growth and transformation journey of the Bank.
Strategising for Performance & Growth
  • Helping to set the future direction of the company in order to enhance business performance and shareholder value.
  • Leveraging financial perspectives to frame the acquisition of capital undertake M&A and other investments strategic decision making integration of performance management.
  • Create a capital and risk management lens to support the effective of the strategic initiatives of the Bank.
  • Critical thinking analysis and presentation of data global financial perspective strategic agility dealing with ambiguity.
  • Capital formation and structuring experience Merger targeting due diligence and integration
    experience.

Operational Efficiency
  • Dynamically balance cost risk and service levels in delivering on the finance organization s responsibilities.
  • Define and adapt finance s operating model.
  • Development of finance talent.
  • Ensure the Finance Division s operational efficiencies are in place and strictly focus on value enhancing activities.
  • Developing and evolving the Finance Division s operating and talent management models as the business evolves while remaining efficient and effective.
  • Determining how to allocate scarce or limited finance resources to drive the greatest return on investment while managing finance risks.
  • Ability to adapt to global best practices operations and reporting standards.

Controls & Stewardship
  • Ensure company compliance with financial reporting and control requirements.
  • Ensure adequate assessment and mitigation of risk and compliance with applicable regulatory or other legal requirements.
  • Manage business complexity while minimizing risk as the business executes on its strategies and initiatives.
  • Objective nature and ability to effectively communicate risks and potential solutions across the organization and to the Board.
  • Understanding of controls and related control frameworks (COSO COBIT etc.



Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years cognate experience in core finance accounting or audit functions
  • Experience and exposure in digitizing the finance function and exposure to financial modelling
  • Experience in partnering with and operating within the CSuite and interfacing with regulators as well as the market
  • Membership or Fellowship of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) or Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).
  • CFA Institute Chartership (optional).
  • Unimpeachable integrity accountability and probity.
  • Excellent strategic and thoughtleadership.
  • Critical thinking an innovative mindset and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to express sound and balanced judgment.
  • Should have experience in partnering with and operating within the CSuite
  • Excellent carriage and presence.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
