Summary of Position
A Maintenance Technician I is responsible for performing preventative maintenance and repairing production equipment as required while working with the senior members of the team to complete electrical and mechanical projects.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform preventative/predictive maintenance to all production equipment as required.
- Work sidebyside with experienced technician during equipment repair and learn smart/safe work practices.
- Complete small electrical and mechanical projects based on direction given from Team Lead/ Supervisor
- Demonstrate safe work practices and follow company safety policies procedures and regulationsat all times.
- Ensure compliance of all Company policies
- Maintain personal compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and recommend measures to improve health and safety.
- Work within a team environment and interact with all areas of production effectively.
- Repair and replace electrical/hydraulic/pneumatic and electronic components such as motors contractors relays timers types of switches PLCs light curtains motor controls and valves under direction of Team Lead/ Supervisor
- Recognize and diagnose faults on electrical equipment or systems which may involve complex interlocking interrelated circuits integrated systems and complex sequencing.
- Examine install replace and repair electronic wiring receptacles switch boxes conduits feeders cable assemblies lighting fixtures and other electrical components.
- Maintain production equipment to maximize operating performance and assist with maintaining electrical spare parts inventory levels.
- Perform repairs on equipment to restore them to proper and safe work conditions under direction of Team Lead/ Supervisor
- Perform installation set up modification and relocation of equipment to accommodate or improve production requirements.
- Read electrical and electronic schematics/diagrams basic hydraulic and pneumatic diagrams.
- Test electrical and electronic equipment and components for continuity current voltage and resistance
- Ensure production schedule is not jeopardized due to machine breakdown or unsafe operating conditions and inform Team Lead/Supervisor about changes in electric circuits and update original diagrams.
- Always follow LOCK OUT/TAG OUT procedure on unsafe machines/machines being serviced.
- Adhere to work orders preventive/predictive maintenance systems by filling in required forms
Qualifications :
Skills
- Troubleshooting experience with electrical & mechanical equipment PLC systems Robots AC drives DC drives servo drives motion control HMI interface motor controls safety sensors and relays
- Able to read wiring diagrams electrical/mechanical/pneumatic/hydraulic schematics and ladder/function block logic
- Theoretical knowledge of industrial PCs and PLCs (Siemens Step 7 BeckhoffTwinCat etc. and electric circuitry consisting of contractors relays main voltage/control voltage limit switches and proximity sensors
- Knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Systems (CMMS) an asset

Education and/or Experience
Preferred:
- At least 2 year of experience in a fastpaced manufacturing/industrial environment with multiple priorities
- A certificate from technical trade school Military experience in lieu of or related subject
