Job Description

Position Summary
New Mexico Highlands University a Division II member of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference has an opening for an Assistant Athletic Trainer beginning January 2022. This is a twelve month full time position. This job does require weekends nights travel and observed school holidays. Candidates to be considered for this position must be NATA BOC certified prior to being hired as well as having a current BLS or Professional Rescuer CPR / AED certification. They must also have or be eligible to obtain New Mexico Athletic Trainer licensure within 30 days of employment. Possible sport assignments could include mens and womens basketball softball volleyball wrestling womens track softball or assistance with football. The application process will require a cover letter resume and a minimum of three professional references.

Duties And Responsibilities
Daily operations for the athletic training room and the following: Sport team responsibilities/assignments as specified by Director of Athletic Training communication with coaches and student athletes of assigned teams. Coordinating with physicians/medical personnel on care of studentathletes. Injury reporting documentation and maintenance of athletes medical records Taking inventory and restocking medical supplies Ensuring safety of patients and staff through enforcement of safety procedures. Maintenance and upkeep of the athletic training room as a medical facility. Additional administrative duties as assigned by the Head Athletic Trainer. Continued education in sports medicine and maintaining good standing with NATA Board of Certification Other duties as specified by the Head Athletic Trainer.

Preferred Qualifications
Additional related education and training Experience with administrative and organizational duties Experience with advanced manual therapy skills applicable to orthopedics and sports medicine. Masters degree from an accredited institution of higher education in athletic training or related field.
