Business Model
- Online funeral home focusing on transparency hospitality and valueoriented pricing
- Two types of customers: "atneed" (immediate service) and preplanning (insurancelike product)
- Median sales cycle: 2 weeks but can extend to months
- Preplanning sales involve educating customers on a sensitive topic (mortality)
About the Role:
As a PrePlanning Sales Representative you’ll help families make proactive decisions about funeral and cremation arrangements—locking in today’s pricing documenting their wishes and easing future stress for loved ones. Some conversations are consultative; others convert quickly. You’ll need empathy urgency and structure to succeed in this remote consumerfacing / B2C sales role.
You’ll manage a pipeline of current and past inbound leads and play a critical role in helping families plan ahead—removing uncertainty and offering peace of mind when it matters most.
- Focus on Preplanning sales "vitamin" vs. "painkiller" approach)
- Primarily inbound leads with outbound followup
- Requires sensitivity authenticity and nonaggressive engagement
Role Responsibilities:
- Own the Sales Pipeline
- Manage a highvolume funnel of 300 leads/month
- Convert at least 40 of leads using softclose techniques and compelling followups
- Leverage calls texts and emails to nurture leads over longer decision cycles
- Upsell valueadded offerings to increase average order value
- Build Trust Through Expertise and Empathy
- Establish yourself as a credible compassionate guide for families navigating preplanning
- Communicate the benefits of preplanning in simple compelling terms
- Use a consultative approach to match families with the right options
- Build rapport quickly and handle objections with care—not pressure
- Collaborate and Scale
- Share learnings and feedback to improve sales scripts tools and messaging
- Participate in pipeline reviews and strategy sessions
- Support onboarding and mentoring of new team members as we grow
Requirements:
- 2 years of consultative B2C sales experience in longcycle environments (e.g. insurance financial planning senior living)
- A persuasive yet empathetic communication style—confident warm and expert
- Proven ability to manage a highvolume pipeline with consistent followthrough
- Skilled in objection handling and guiding uncertain prospects toward action
- Selfstarter mindset with strong organization and autonomy
- A deep belief in the mission and a desire to help others through meaningful work
