Background:

Miller Waste Systems Inc. has been in operation since 1961. Miller is a leader in waste management and diversion providing governments and industries with a wide range of services in the province of Ontario Nova Scotia New Brunswick and Manitoba. Miller has over 50 years experience in the waste management sector and currently operates out of more than 30 locations. We are looking for a highly capable Route Supervisor to join our team based in Owen Sound ON.

Summary:

We are seeking a highly organized and efficient Route Supervisor to join our team. Key responsibilities include scheduling of routes managing front line staff ensuring timely collection of residential curb side materials in the Owen Sound area.

Responsibilities:

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Schedule routes; create and modify collection maps and areas.
• Hold regular meetings with your staff for morning start ups.
• Attend all accidents and property damage incidents fill out accident investigation reports and issue progressive discipline when required.
• Enter daily productivity statistics and discuss results with drivers as well as record and time keeping.
• Ensuring the timely collection of residential curbside materials in the Owen Sound ON area
• Effective at team building while encouraging excellent customer service.
• Lead and act as the primary line of communication and contact with various levels of Municipal staff members.
• Provide coaching and training for drivers failing to meet minimum service agreement.
• Demonstrate compassion and understanding of employee needs and build positive relations.
• Ensure safety and operational standards are being met.
• Other duties and projects as required.

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Must adhere to Miller Waste System safety protocols and must be familiar with occupational Health & Safety Act.
• Successful candidates will have a DZ licence a clean driving and CVOR.
• Demonstrable and proven team building skills with the ability to lead as a collaborative leader.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and good organizational skills are mandatory.
• Knowledge of MS Word and Excel and Outlook are a minimum requirement for this position.
• Familiarity with the Owen Sound and surrounding areas would be an asset.
• Must be flexible to work mornings afternoons evening weekends and statutory holidays as required

Flexibility is also required as this position occasionally requires travel early starts late finishes and on rare occasions weekend work.
