OVERVIEW:
The AfterSchool Coordinator & Community Liaisons primary responsibility is to enhance all programs that deal with intervention prevention and mentoring as well as coordinating a quality After School program for Children in grades PreK8. The AfterSchool Coordinator & Community Liaison will enhance community information and participation by actively seeking opportunities to speak at schools businesses trade school and service clubs about the Red Shield programs and opportunities.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain a clean neat and organized office area
- Create weekly or biweekly support groups with parents and community members to enhance programs and referrals for families
- Greet visitors pleasantly and be courteous at all times; keeping in mind it is the responsibility of all employees to make members and visitors feel welcome
- Monitor activities in library
- Attend outreach events that promote programs and recruit volunteers. Plan a program for all afterschool students every Friday (crafts movie bingo etc.
- Make appropriate grade level packets for all homework students
- Set up speaking engagements at schools and other community organizations to advertise services and recruit volunteers
- Maintain all volunteer files for homework helpers that help in the program
- Keep files on each child who attends for the sake of grant reporting
- Maintain all CDBG reporting files
- Clean after each end of a day around your work area. Lock gates doors rooms and restrooms in your working area
- Help promote and stimulate involvement in activities of the center
- Recognize potential discipline problems and try to correct them before they become disruptive to the program. Major or continual disciplinary authority for proper followup
- Actively identifying and referring problem students to the counseling programs and mentoring programs (Girl Guards Sunbeams Adventure Corps & Junior Soldier) programs made available to them at the Red Shield which may include individual or family counseling as well as anger management groups
- After any organized activity it is your responsibility to make sure all equipment and/or supplies are properly stored. The activity area must be cleaned up by the class and instructors
- Needed program supplies should be requested through the Program Manager well before they are needed
- Any illegal activity taking place on center property must be reported to the Corps Officer or evening supervisor and proper authorities called. In the event the Corps Officer is unavailable contact the Operation Manager. (When in doubt call the police)
- Transport children to camp and on field trips. Also transport individuals to programs offered
- Statistics
- Meet Child Safety regulations and abide by them
- Must attend all staff training and meetings
- Any schedule change needs Program Managers approval
- Other duties as assigned by Program Manager Operation Manager and Corps Officers
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Ability to work and relate well with people of diverse ages and backgrounds
- Experience or education in Child Development or Child Education (Preferred)
- Able to obtain a Class B License with 25 passenger endorsement within first 90 days of employment (Required)
- Obtain CPR/First certification within the first 30 days of employment (Required)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
