UCLA Extension is considered one of the top programs of its kind offering to more than 35000 students per year approximately 4500 classes and nondegree certificate programs to meet the professional development continuing education and personal enrichment needs of the full spectrum of nontraditional students as well as companies and organizations throughout and beyond the Los Angeles region.
MGMT X 120A B and C are part of a threecourse Intermediate Accounting sequence. MGMT X 120A covers the interpretation use processing and presentation of accounting information and the preparation of principal accounting statements. Topics include an overview of the conceptual framework of accounting; valuation; recording; and presentation of the balance sheet income statement and statement of cash flows. Students are introduced to time value of money concepts as well as accounting for cash receivables and the first part of inventories.
MGMT X 120B is the second course in the threecourse Intermediate Accounting sequence which covers accounting for longterm assets and intangibles current and longterm liabilities and stockholders equity.
MGMT X 120C is the third course in the threecourse Intermediate Accounting sequence. MGMT X 120C covers such complex accounting issues as accounting for investments revenue recognition pension plans leases accounting for income taxes accounting changes preparation of the statements of cash flows and an overview of financial statement analysis.
All three courses are transferable for UC credit.
Instructors teach students to understand the fundamentals technical aspects and concepts of the subject matter. More importantly they prepare students to utilize this understanding practically in the workforce. In addition to teaching proficiency in technical matters instructors utilize case studies and reallife examples wherever possible to help students take their understanding from the pages of the textbook into the work of the real world. To accomplish this instructors foster a collaborative inclusive learning environment developed to support the success of all UCLA Extension students coming from a wide range of educational personal and professional backgrounds.
Develop and/or update course syllabus in consultation with the UCLA Extension Program Director as assigned using approved syllabus template
Prepare and deliver course materials and learning assessments in assigned format (inperson or hybrid)
Utilize the Canvas Learning Management System as the course support platform for inperson courses and as the delivery platform for online and hybrid courses
Communicate teaching objectives and specific learning outcomes to students and clearly outline the grading policies for the course
Evaluate student achievement of specific learning outcomes and assign grades
Post final student grades to the transcript system in a timely manner no later than 2 weeks after the last date of course meeting
Respond to student questions and learning needs in a timely manner.
Stay current regarding the professional body of knowledge in the field of practice
Participate in required orientations and instructor training programs
Complete required administrative tasks in a timely manner including: completing all hiring paperwork; submitting updated quarterly syllabus; posting bio and photo on the UCLA Extension website; signing quarterly contract; ordering required texts; communicating AV and classroom needs.
Employ culturally competent teaching methodologies in the classroom inclusive of both domestic and international student populations
Use subjectmatter expertise to impart knowledge to students and leverage additional resources appropriately to enhance the curriculum (i.e. make arrangements for guest speakers etc.
Design interactive and motivational classroom activities to fully engage participants and to reinforce student learning
Update materials periodically and regularly monitor course evaluations in order to make adjustments and improvements to the curriculum.

Advanced degree from an accredited institution preferred.
