Job Description

A dynamic and forwardthinking coeducational independent school situated in the accessible West London area of Hounslow seeks an inspiring and experienced Head of Drama for a fulltime permanent position commencing in September.   • About the Role:
    • Provide strategic leadership and vision for the Drama department ensuring the delivery of an engaging and highquality curriculum across all key stages likely including GCSE and ALevel Drama and Theatre Studies.
    • Develop and implement innovative teaching methodologies and resources to inspire students and foster a deep understanding of dramatic techniques theatre history and performance practices.
    • Lead support and mentor a team of Drama teachers fostering a collaborative and creative departmental culture.
    • Oversee the planning direction and production of school plays and theatrical performances ensuring high standards and providing opportunities for students of all abilities to participate.
    • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of teaching and learning within the department implementing strategies for continuous improvement and sharing best practices.
    • Contribute to the broader extracurricular life of the school potentially leading or supporting drama clubs workshops and theatre trips.
    • Manage departmental resources effectively including budgeting and the maintenance of performance spaces and equipment.
    • Work collaboratively with other Heads of Department and the Senior Leadership Team to contribute to the overall artistic vision of the school.
  • Ideal Candidate:
    • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a strong academic background in Drama or a related field.
    • Significant and successful experience teaching Drama at the secondary level with a proven track record of leadership raising student achievement and directing successful theatrical productions including experience with GCSE and ALevel.
    • A deep and current understanding of the Drama curriculum assessment requirements and innovative pedagogical approaches in the performing arts.
    • Exceptional leadership communication interpersonal and organizational skills with the ability to inspire and motivate both students and a team of teachers.
    • A demonstrable passion for drama and theatre with a strong understanding of different genres styles and practitioners.
    • Experience in curriculum development assessment departmental budgeting and the technical aspects of theatre production.
    • A commitment to fostering creativity building confidence and developing teamwork skills in students through drama.
