An Occupational Therapist is a pivotal role in the healthcare sector focused on guiding individuals towards better independence in their everyday tasks. As part of this role you would be assessing individuals needs and developing care plans tailored to them. With a keen understanding of patients physical emotional and cognitive abilities you will implement interventions that seek to improve their functional skills.
Job PurposeThe main purpose of an Occupational Therapist is to allow individuals to regain or increase their independence through personalized therapeutic interventions. This often involves careful evaluation of a patients physical emotional and cognitive abilities and the implementation of relevant strategies.
Job Duties and Responsibilities- Assessing the physical emotional and cognitive abilities of patients
- Developing personalized therapeutic interventions based on individual assessments
- Improving functional skills by implementing structured and tailormade programs
- Effectively communicating and collaborating with healthcare teams to enhance patient care
- Employing problemsolving techniques to adapt interventions according to patient needs and responses
- Maintaining a compassionate and empathetic approach to support patients throughout their rehabilitation journey
Qualifications :
- Degree in Occupational Therapy or a related field
- Knowledge and experience in assessment of physical emotional and cognitive abilities
- Experience in implementing therapeutic interventions and improving functional skills
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to solve problems and adapt interventions according to patient needs
- Demonstrable empathy and understanding in patient interactions
