Job description

The role of a in a Bakery Business setting is a pivotal position responsible for overseeing and managing the overall operations of a bakery production facility or plant. This role requires a combination of leadership skills operational expertise and a strong understanding of bakery production processes.

Job Responsibilities:

Production Management:

  • Oversee and manage the bakery production processes including mixing baking packaging and quality control.
  • Develop and implement production schedules to meet customer demand and ensure efficient utilization of resources.
  • Monitor production performance and identify opportunities for process optimization and efficiency improvements.

Team Leadership:

  • Recruit train and manage a diverse team of production staff including bakers machine operators supervisors and support personnel.
  • Provide leadership coaching and performance feedback to ensure a motivated and skilled workforce.
  • Foster a culture of teamwork safety and continuous improvement.

Quality Assurance:

  • Implement and maintain quality control procedures to ensure that all baked goods meet established standards for taste texture appearance and freshness.
  • Conduct regular inspections and quality checks to identify and address any deviations from quality standards.

Operational Efficiency:

  • Implement lean manufacturing principles and process improvement methodologies to streamline production processes and reduce waste.
  • Optimize equipment and machinery utilization to maximize output while minimizing downtime.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations food safety standards and workplace health guidelines.
  • Develop and enforce safety protocols to create a safe working environment for all employees.

Inventory and Supplies Management:

  • Manage inventory levels of ingredients raw materials packaging supplies and finished products to meet production requirements.
  • Collaborate with procurement teams to ensure timely and accurate supply chain management.

Maintenance and Facility Management:

  • Coordinate maintenance activities for machinery equipment and facilities to ensure proper functionality and prevent production disruptions.
  • Address maintenance issues promptly to minimize downtime and maintain a smoothly running operation.

Budgeting and Cost Management:

  • Develop and manage the plants budget including labor costs operational expenses and productionrelated costs.
  • Identify costsaving opportunities while maintaining product quality and operational effectiveness.

Reporting and Communication:

  • Provide regular reports to upper management on production metrics quality performance and other relevant KPIs.
  • Collaborate with other departments such as logistics and sales to align production with overall business goals.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity reduce costs and increase overall operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with crossfunctional teams to identify and implement process enhancements.

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Industrial Engineering Food Technology Business
  • Management or related field (Masters degree is a plus).
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in manufacturing or bakery plant operations with at least 2 years in a managerial or leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of bakery processes and production systems (mixing proofing baking cooling packaging).
  • Indepth understanding of food safety standards and manufacturing regulations (e.g. GMP HACCP FDA DOLE BRC).
  • Excellent leadership communication and problemsolving skills.
  • Proficient in production planning software MS Office Suite and ERP systems.
  • Ability to work under pressure manage multiple priorities and make sound decisions.
  • Experience in lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies is an advantage.
