You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailThe Director will lead the Division of EMS within the C/AFP Department of Emergency Medicine in order to further its strategic vision of being recognized as a centre of excellence for Knowledge Translation in EMS through measurable impact on health policy. The Director will report to the Head of the Dalhousie Department of Emergency Medicine. Specific objectives will include but are not limited to:
Advancing EMS research:
Chair an active and engaged Nova Scotia EMS Research Steering Committee
Sit on the DalEM Research Council
Promote and support interprofessional research
Further the work of the National EMS Research Agenda
Strengthen interprovincial collaboration in the Maritimes
Encourage and support paramedics to publish and present EMS research
Foster undergraduate and postgraduate medicine interest in EMS research
Ensuring adequate resources for EMS researchers (time funds mentorship)
Foster a clear vision for priority research in Nova Scotia
Governance:
Ensuring day to day activities of the Division continue to embody the mission andvalues of the organization
managing fiscal responsibilities through transparent budgeting cost recovery andfuture funding sources.
Measure and strive to increase the impact of activities of the Division
Enhancing Patient Care and Population health through knowledge translation activities:
Guiding and supporting the Prehospital Evidence Based Protocols Program
Educating EMS Leaders:
Take a leadership role in educating paramedics and management in evidencebased EMS practice.Develop exemplary EMS leaders by mentoring faculty teaching EMS fellows postgraduate and undergraduate medical trainees.Manage bursaries for paramedic postgraduate education.Mentor new investigators in best practices for EMS research

Paramedic Evidencebased Practice Council
Participation in other committees and subcommittees as required
Qualifications :
MD degree with board certification in Emergency Medicine (FRCPC CFPCEM or equivalent)
Experience in prehospital and transport medicine EMS research and/or EMSFellowship is considered an asset

Term:
5year term with the option to renew at the discretion of the Department Head/ADEMEC.
Funding:
One Academic HalfDay
Note: This role will be required to work clinically at the HI or IWK for a minimum of 5 shifts per month. There is the potential to apply for additional AHD to support research activities during the regular budget planning cycle
