GDOL is seeking a skilled and experienced COBOL Mainframe Programmer/Developer to join their team. This role involves translating business requirements into robust programming solutions maintaining and enhancing custom software and providing production support. The ideal candidate will have expertise in the COBOL programming language JCL and IBM/DELL mainframe operating systems. This is an excellent opportunity to work on critical projects while enhancing your technical skills in a dynamic environment.
Responsibilities:Translate analysis design documents and specifications into wellstructured COBOL programs.
Maintain and enhance customdeveloped software by modifying and testing user data entry screens batch processing reports queries and menus.
Conduct thorough reviews of existing code data and business processes to support nondatabase functions.
Execute test program changes update test files run tests review results and ensure the correctness of program changes based on provided requirements.
Identify and correct data errors through application logic; develop data analysis/summary reports utilizing IBM and Microsoft tools.
Assist with the conversion of COBOL applications to webbased applications.
Prepare both programlevel and userlevel documentation to support the software development lifecycle.
Enhance software to reduce operating time or improve efficiency while adhering to organization guidelines and procedures for code management and deployment.
Minimum of 5 years experience in COBOL development on Mainframe JCL development and maintenance.
Proven experience with COBOL DB2 JCL ControlM.
Solid understanding of the full software development lifecycle (SDLC) including design development integration testing and deployment.
Ability to troubleshoot test and debug computer software to ensure the desired outcomes.
Strong analytical skills to support nondatabase functions correct data errors and develop data analysis/summary reports.
Experience in preparing comprehensive programlevel and userlevel documentation.
Excellent communication skills for obtaining user signoffs on all changes prior to production deployment.
Ability to follow organizational guidelines and procedures for checking out source code and migrating changes.
Commitment to enhancing software for improved efficiency and reduced operating time.
Java programming knowledge (a plus).
AWS handson experience (preferred).
Postgres DB experience (preferred).
Kofax experience (a plus).
