Starting Wage: $12.00/hour Closing Date: Open Until Filled


Shift/Workdays and Hours: Variable (includes evenings and some weekends)

Responsible for teaching introductory level dance classes for children and young adults. Must have experience with multiple dance styles and techniques which may include ballet jazz tap hip hop and/or cheerleading and tumbling.
Job Duties
  • Create lesson plans/curriculum.
  • Assist develop and facilitate a safe successful and ultimately fun dance class.
  • Work with and teach young children dance techniques and styles.
  • Communicate effectively written and verbally with students parents and coworkers.
  • Actively listen to customers and address any concerns or needs.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative professional working relationships with others; individually and in a team environment.
  • Provide excellent customer service and possess a service philosophy which reflects the mission of the Parks and Recreation Department.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements

Required Knowledge Skills & Additional Qualifications

  • Knowledge of dance styles and techniques.
  • One 1 year of college education work/volunteer experience with school age children courses in recreation education psychology or sociology preferred.

Other Information

  • Must pass a background check
  • Applicants will be required to work evenings and some weekends.
  • This is not a KPERS covered position.
  • This is a seasonal position and hours will vary according to operational need.

Physical Demands/Work Environment

  • Work will be performed at a variety of City locations and majority of work is performed inside a climatecontrolled facility.
  • Noise level and activity level will be varied.
  • Stand and walk for extended periods of time dance speak climb stairs push pull or lift up to 50 pounds.
