Job Description

The Environmental Planning Manager will be entrusted with the following critical responsibilities:

  • Lead a specialized team of environmental scientists engineers and permit specialists focused on NJtransportation projects for agencies such as NJDEP NJHPO and other approval bodies.
  • Manage consulting projects ensuring strict adherence to scope schedule and budget.
  • Implement and utilize AECOMs project management systems and software.
  • Oversee field and data collection efforts guaranteeing accuracy and regulatory compliance.
  • Provide expert support for designbidbuild and designbuild projects.
  • Conduct essential client visits and field activities including afterhours meetings as required.
  • Prepare and oversee regulatory permit applications including wetland delineations and land use permitting.
  • Develop and rigorously review technical work products including environmental documents and technical studies.
  • Ensure all projects meet or exceed New Jersey Transportation client requirements.
  • Uphold and enforce highquality work standards and promote a robust Health & Safety culture.
  • Maintain current knowledge of industry trends to ensure organizational competitiveness.
  • Provide mentorship to junior and midlevel staff fostering their professional development.
  • Coordinate and manage interdisciplinary teams across local and regional offices.
  • Strategically select train and develop technical personnel to enhance team capabilities.
  • Spearhead and support critical business development activities including proposal development and client management.
  • Collaborate effectively with local and national business leaders to drive organizational growth and success.

Qualifications :

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in Environmental Science Biology Ecology Natural Resources or an Earth Sciencerelated field or relevant degree plus 8 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and education.
  • Transit or transportation experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 15 years of industry experience preferably delivering New Jersey transportation projects for agencies (NJTA NJDOT NJ TRANSIT AMTRAK SJTA)
  • Masters degree is beneficial
  • Strong client relationshipbuilding skills
  • Existing mature and tested Client relationships
  • Excellent communication skills including both oral and written (writing sample required)
  • Strong leadership skills 
  • Organizational management skills and ability to perform detailoriented work.
  • Experience with linear development projects is preferred. 
  • Transit or transportation experience is a plus
