Description
Major Food Distributor located in Hunts Point Cooperative Market in the Bronx is looking for a FullTime Safety Manager. The Safety Manager at Nebraskaland is responsible for all aspects of employee product and public safety. This position will oversee employee behavior in both the warehouse and on route and implement policies to ensure a safe work environment. This position will report directly to the President of the company.
Daily monitoring compliance with safety procedures and SQF certification requirements
Ensure all Elogs are up to date and all drivers are following FMCSA rules and regulations
Monitor claims for Workers Compensation and Auto Liability Insurance
Monitor all Driver safety systems including Drivecam and GPS
Develops safety procedures for all areas of the company
Engage with departments to address safety concerns
Develops and implements inspection policies and a schedule of routine inspections
Prepares training to cover emergency procedures workplace safety and other relevant topics
Drafts inspection reports to document inspection findings
Ensures that material safety data sheets are maintained and readily accessible when needed
Maintains records of discharge of or employee exposure to hazardous waste as required
Represent company for all government violation issues
Attend conferences/seminars to maintain understanding of safety trends
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Work Environment:
Normal office environment
Must be able to regularly travel to conferences seminars and company related representation.
Minimum Experience and Qualifications:
SQF Certified or willing to become SQF certified within six months of hire
Bachelors degree in Environmental Safety Occupational Safety and Health or related field required.
Five years of related experience preferred.
Extensive knowledge of environmental regulations and policies.
Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills.
Proficient in technology and equipment used in warehouse inspections.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
Strong problemsolving skills
Ability to function well in a highpaced environment
