Shelter Movers is a national volunteerpowered charitable organization providing moving and storage services at no cost to individuals and families fleeing abuse. We collaborate with local businesses and community agencies to support people primarily women and children as they transition to a life free of violence. Every year in collaboration with community partners our volunteer teams contribute over 31000 hours to support people transitioning to lives free of violence and abuse.

PURPOSE OF YOUR ROLE
Shelter Movers is hiring an Operations Manager to oversee all moving and storage services offered to survivors of violence within the local Chapter. Reporting to the Chapter Director the Operations Manager will collaborate closely with the local leadership team to ensure seamless operations. Responsibilities include supervising/supporting teams of paid staff/ volunteers cultivating relationships with shelters and operational partners and managing projects.
This role requires a proactive approach to policy and procedure adherence and documentation as well as a readiness to engage in frequent moves. The ideal candidate demonstrates adeptness in navigating Shelter Movers dynamic environment. This includes comfort with unpredictability and a proven ability to actively participate in the development of local initiatives contributing to the organizations growth and sustainability.
YOUR FOCUS
Lead & Support Teams 35
- Lead and support the Intake Move Coordination Scheduling and Lead Movers team supervisors.
- While on shift be available to Intake Move Coordination Lead Mover and Scheduling teams to discuss any urgent operational issues & support in planning for all active moves.
- Be available as a backup to any local operational roles as needed including but not limited to attending/ leading moves.
Relationship Management 20
- Develop and maintain relationships with shelters and other referral agencies by delivering presentations conducting regular checkins and directly addressing concerns
- Maintain relationships with operational partners (i.e. vehicle rental companies storage companies security companies translation services pet fostering etc) by delivering informational presentations checking in with company managers routinely and directly addressing concerns
Operational Oversight & Coordination 35
- Chair regular local Operations team meetings with supervisors and any other relevant staff to review the status of current moves possible risks storage staffing partnerships etc.
- Meet regularly with the Chapter Director & Regional Operations Manager/National Operations Director to provide critical updates reports and statistics where necessary to demonstrate the effectiveness of current operational policies and procedures.
- Maintain accurate and consistent data entry across all Operational documents and input KPIs on a monthly basis.
- Manage ongoing and temporary projects as needed.
- Update local sections of the operational manuals and documentation for Intake MC Scheduling & Lead Movers as needed.
Recruitment & Volunteer Coordination 10
- Work closely with the local Volunteer Services Manager to coordinate recruitment efforts relevant to the Operations team (i.e. all Admin Volunteer roles & Mover/Driver roles etc).
SKILLS YOU WILL NEED
- Project customer service and/or team management experience.
- Demonstrate strong communication problemsolving and critical thinking skills.
- Exhibit a very strong commitment to the role and organization reflecting a passion for the mission.
- Take initiative and is capable of leading motivating and developing/training team members.
- Adaptable flexible and creative in finding solutions; remain calm under pressure.
- Administrative skills experience with demonstrated attention to detail and strong orientation for process.
- Bring conflict resolution skills to foster a positive working environment.
- Maintain a supportive approachable traumainformed antiracist antioppressive clientcentered and inclusive communication style.
EXTRA USEFUL SKILLS THAT YOU MAY HAVE
- Knowledge of the GenderBased Violence sector specifically womens shelters is an asset.
- Advanced understanding and interest in social work or gender studies including antiracist antioppressive frameworks and intersectionality of challenges faced by women and particularly survivors of abuse in the local community is an asset.
- Experience in community outreach and relationship building.
ROLE DETAILS

- COMPENSATION: $27.00 $33.00 Hourly
- LOCATION: Regina Saskatchewan (Hybrid)
- HOURS OF WORK: 25 hours per week (with some evening and weekend availability as needed)
