Dore Clinic & Dore House San Francisco
The Dore Urgent Care Clinic is designed to offer clinical intervention for an individual who is experiencing an escalating psychiatric crisis and who requires rapid engagement assessment and intervention in order to prevent further deterioration into an acute crisis or grave disability. Based on the principles of social rehabilitation it is a voluntary alternative to Psychiatric Emergency Services at San Francisco General Hospital.
Founded alongside Dore Clinic in 2008 Dore House is a social rehabilitationbased acute diversion unit providing a 14bed intensive crisis residential treatment program with stays of up to two weeks possible for clients in need. Dore is handicapaccessible and ideally situated to address the needs of residents who are experiencing mental health crises with some medical needs.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: The LVN primary responsibility is to provide consistently effective clinical services behavioral health and physical to the clients of the Urgent Care Center. This includes the direct provision of psychiatric medical and pharmacy services; assistance if needed with medical behavioral health and pharmacy services for the Residential Urgent Diversion Unit; establishing and maintaining effective relations with clients client families and support people and with the general community; and maintaining a comfortable safe noninstitutional ambiance in the program. Services must be provided in a manner that is safe and helpful for clients staff and the general community and that evidences a noninstitutional character that is congruent with Social Rehabilitation values and principles.
Basic Job Skills: Provide direct behavioral and nursing care services to clients of the urgent care program. Performs nursing procedures such as administering medications and treatments including oral medications hypodermic injections pulse blood pressure respiration and first aid as authorized within the scope and practice of a LVN or LPT. Participates as a member of an interdisciplinary team in all aspects of the development and implementation of a treatment plan. Responds to all emergencies that involve the use of medical and/or behavioral intervention techniques. Provides onetoone supervision and observation of clients on special precautions including suicide risks serious medical conditions and serious self injurious behavior. Performs custody tasks including escorting clients in the facility and in the community searching for and contraband weapons. Applies and demonstrates knowledge of correct methods in the prevention and management of ive behavior.
Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from a school accredited to offer the approved LVN or LPT educational program. Current license from the Board of Vocational Nursing and/or Psychiatric Technicians. Must be able to communicate effectively with medical and behavioral health staff and other service providers both orally and in writing. Basic word processing skills; maintain computer requirements of the City and County of San Francisco Community Behavioral Health Services.
Able to work proficiently on computers and computer based information systems. Must maintain a valid California drivers license have own vehicle with private liability insurance and must be insurable under the agencys current auto insurance policies.
