Position Summary

Why Its a Great Department:The IT Division consists of 130 employees who directly support Pierce Countys 3500 staff with their daily IT needs and provides solutions that support all County residents. We are a national leader in delivering public services through innovation. How to be Successful in the Role:Your success will come from understanding disciplined project management principles and successfully applying them to complex IT initiatives. You will have the ability to navigate technical environments and collaborate with IT teams to drive infrastructure cybersecurity and cloud projects to completion. Your high emotional intelligence (EI/EQ) adaptability and strong stakeholder management skills will further ensure your success in this role. Your experience in troubleshooting challenges while keeping projects aligned with scope schedule and budget is critical. Experience with DevOps practices including automation CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) will be highly valuable in driving efficiency and scalability across IT operations.Your Future in this Role:This position allows for growth inside and outside of the role. You will work with Pierce County customers across all levels of the organization from individual contributors to executive leadership which allows your business knowledge to grow. This exposure can prepare you for future opportunities in IT and Pierce County.
Core Daily Responsibilities:- Manage IT projects in alignment with industry standards such as PMBOK while incorporating modern IT delivery frameworks like DevOps and Agile.
- Execute project governance processes ensuring effective tracking reporting risk management and communication across teams.
- Develop and maintain a structured project plan (WBS) for IT initiatives ensuring clear scope milestones and deliverables.
- Lead technologydriven efforts by defining objectives technical requirements security considerations schedules funding and staffing needs.
- Provide subject matter expertise in IT strategy and implementation focusing on internal platforms cloud infrastructure and DevOps automation.
- Integrate Agile and DevOps methodologies to enhance IT project delivery aligning with governance security and budgetary requirements.
- Prioritize and manage multiple complex IT projects in a fastpaced dynamic environment balancing stakeholder needs and technical constraints.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:

- A Bachelors degree in information technology computer sciences business mathematics engineering or related field.
- Five years of information technology experience which includes experience performing complex technology centric project management in a Project Manager or leadership role.
- Any equivalent combination of experience and education is required.
- Positions in specific program areas may require programrelated experience education and/or training.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Project management certification such as PMP is highly preferred.
