Job Description

Flourish Australia has an exciting opportunity for a Child Wellbeing Workertojoin theWomen and Childrens Program in Blacktown!

The position available is:

  • Parttime 48 hours/fortnight)
  • Based within our Womens and Childrens program at Blacktown
  • Working Monday to Thursday
  • Level 3 on the Flourish Australia Enterprise Agreement 2018 equivalent to $37.35 $40.05 p/h 11.5 Super TaxFree Salary Packaging

About the Opportunity

Flourish AustraliasWomen and Childrens Program provides supported accommodation and outreach support to mothers parenting with a mental health issue that are homeless or at risk of homelessness. As the Child Wellbeing Worker you will work within the program to support the needs and development of the children through appropriate interventions with the child and their mother.

In the course of performing the role the Child Wellbeing Worker will:

  • Provide a safe supportive stimulating and educational environment for the children in the program.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships that support and partner with families and the community.
  • Advocate for the children and families and be available as a resource person to families and staff.
  • Protect children and their rights ensure they are safe and adequately supervised at all times.
  • Share information with families relating to their child and the daily activities of the program.
  • Keep up to date with current developments in the Early Childhood field.

On a daytoday basis you will:

  • Provide comprehensive support to the child including needs assessments referrals and linkages.
  • With the mother and Parenting Support Worker assess the individual developmental needs of each child and develop implement and monitor an individual plan to optimise the childs development.
  • Collaborate with the Parenting Support Worker to ensure optimal support and education is provided to the families.
  • Be the voice for the children of the program. This includes identifying any child protection concerns and discussing them with the Parenting Support Worker and Senior Staff.
  • Be responsible for the coordination of activities that will enhance a childs development. This may be within a group context or on an individual basis.
  • Keep up to date records of the childs activities including daily observations of the child monthly summaries and contribution to service coordination meetings.
  • Engage mothers in child mental health and wellbeing conversations and work in partnership with mothers to support their childs social and emotional development.

Please note Successfulcandidates must maintain a Class C drivers licence as youmay be directed to use your private motor vehicle in the course of performing your duties when an organisational pool motor vehicle is not available. Proof of comprehensive insurance must be provided when required. You will receive payment of the Travelling Transport and Fares Allowance when using your private vehicle for work related purposes.
