POSITION TITLE: Crane Offer Engineer.

REPORTS TO: Manager ETO Offer Engineering

JOB PURPOSE:

Provide sales with priced cost competitive technical solutions dimensional proposal drawings and detailed technical information according to customer/sales specifications and Konecranes standard solutions. This equipment includes hoists (wire rope standard and tailoredmade process winches) cranes (under hung top running single girder multiplegirder gantry jib special) below the hook lifting devices etc. Duties include project specification review designing/selecting equipment preparing cost estimates technical information and cost transmittal. Emphasis will be on electrical components including motors brakes controls switches PLCs pendants radio systems weigh systems camera systems etc.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Establish customer requirements. Analyze material handling application including physical environment (temperature location dust humidity presence of gases or vapors etc. industrial process (types of loads precise load handling weight of loads throughput requirements reliability factors such as uptime whether equipment is part of process or for maintenance required safety features etc. type of controls 2speed variable frequency radio etc. capacity voltage speed duty class design standards (European US Canadian International) and local codes (construction/electrical). Review and interpret specifications discuss customer requirements and make technical suggestions or present options to enhance productivity and reliability of equipment. May prepare cost/benefit analysis for customer depending upon application and specifications.

  • Calculate technical solutions utilizing Konecranes brand components maximizing corporate content.

  • Prepare CAD drawings and cost estimates for proposed cranes.

  • Utilize multiple crane engineering software (KC Tools) in design process.

  • Offer pricing including but not limited to component pricing labor and startup costs freight spare parts packages and local supplied items such as lights transformers steel and festoons etc.

  • Provide standard technical data sheets drawings and/or other technical information needed for offers so Sales can compile the Proposal for customers (OR Formalize customer proposal) Supervise development of engineering CAD drawings of proposed equipment/system.

  • Generate technical qualification list based of the detailed spec takeoff from sales

  • Ability to interface with engineering production procurement and other departments to collect appropriate data.

  • Create and update pricing libraries for more efficient and accurate pricing.

  • Utilize ERP systems to monitor and gather data for previously delivered projects.

  • Continuous proactive efforts on cost improvement solutions and costefficient offers.

  • Some domestic and international travel required (up to 10.

  • A team player must be able to coordinate tasks and work well with frontline sales force and the other members of Offer Engineer team.

  • Position may include other duties as determined by Manager.

  • Location in Houston TX.

EDUCATION: Bachelors degree in Engineering is required.

EXPERIENCE: A minimum of 24 years of experience in mechanical application or sales engineering in an industrial environment. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Must be a team player. Ability to work in a fastpaced environment and meet deadlines. Attention to detail is a must. Be creative and organized. Excellent problemsolving skills. Good specification and electrical/mechanical drawing reading skills. Welldeveloped PC skills and experience in mechanical drawings using CAD software is required. Must have good knowledge of mechanical engineering discipline. Electrical cost estimating prior experience with cranes and components preferred.
