Job Description

Coordinates all leave of absence cases to include general administration comprehensive case management and program compliance with the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) Short and Long Term Disability and all other types of leave.

  • Administers Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) workplace accommodations.
  • Interprets and administers leave programs and polices in accordance with the applicable Federal and State employment laws.
  • Serves as the subject matter expert for FMLA and NonFMLA programs in alignment and under the general direction and guidance of Human Resources (HR) leadership.
  • Acts as an expert on all benefit offerings and assist employees with enrolling in benefit elections.
  • Independently approves or denies requests based on relevant medicalinformation and other documentation.
  • Provides extensive case management and coordinates administrative aspects of the cases and claims.
  • Works closely with employees and departments to ensure that all relevant completed medical documentation is submitted for timely review.
  • Maintains appropriate contact with all faculty and staff on leave and coordinates all aspects of return to work for employees on leave.
  • Coordinates and organizes all medical information and ensures that HIPAA and Employee Privacy guidelines closely monitored and effectively executed.
  • Assists in the creation and facilitation of leave administration training programs and HR policies.
  • Manages Short Term Disability and LongTerm Disability programs.
  • Ensures that claims are coordinated with FMLA or general medical cases.
  • Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position.

Required Education: Bachelors degree AND:

  • 24 months of Human Resources Leave Administration or related experience.

Equivalency/Substitution: Will accept 48 months related experience in lieu of the Bachelors degree for a total of 72 months related experience.

Skills:

  • Excellent customer service skills when helping employees in critical health situations.
  • Ability to analyze information and convert related activities into a comprehensive work plan.
  • Demonstrated ability to deal with confidential information.
  • Ability to identify basic problems and procedural irregularities collect data establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to organize multitask and drive multiple projects.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work independently in a fastpaced environment with changing priorities.
  • Demonstrated problemsolving time management and priority setting skills

  • Standard Office Environment.
  • Frequent exposure to pressure caused by deadlines and busy periods.
  • Requires contact with other departments and University officials.
