About KOTH:
King of the Hills (KOTH) is the flagship operation of Vault Minerals Limited and one of the largest gold mines in Australia. After a significant expansion KOTH now features a 4.7 million tonne per annum (Mtpa) processing plant providing a solid platform for longterm production growth. This dynamic operation combines openpit and underground mining with exciting exploration activities driving the future. KOTH is located approximately 900 km northeast of Perth and 25 km north of Leonora within the Goldfields Region of Western Australia.
Job Description:
Vault Minerals is seeking an Underground Senior Geologist for the King of the Hills Gold Mine. This role will focus on planning and supervision of the grade control function personnel reconciliations and modelling of the deposit at King of the Hills.
This role is offered on a 8/6 roster FIFO from Perth.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Plan design and monitor grade control drilling programmes to accurately delineate the orebody ahead of mining
- Provide and validate sectional interpretation of grade control data and produce validated polygon and wireframe models
- Regularly update the grade control block model
- Provide daily weekly and monthly reports on grade control drilling ore reconciliation mine geology and grade drivers
- Communicate geological geotechnical and grade information to site technical management and contractor personnel to assist with mine planning and achieving production targets
- Ensure ore is extracted to maximise recovery and minimise ore loss and dilution
- Communicate relevant information and data to other personnel through formalised shift changes and use data reporting systems.
- Attend and actively participate in shift change meetings and provide accurate handover notes/information on problems events and process changes to cross shift.
- Identify specific areas that have the potential for improvement and cost savings.
- Participate in and utilise the change management process for identified problems and opportunities to make improvements.
About you:
The ideal candidate will possess a tertiary qualification in Geology (BSc. Geology or Applied Geology) and bring over 6 years of industry experience with at least 2 years in a senior role within an underground mining environment preferably with narrow vein experience. They will have a proven ability to plan design and monitor grade control activities including drilling programmes to accurately delineate the orebody. A solid understanding of underground grade control processes including diamond drilling is essential. Advanced proficiency with Vulcan (or similar) software is required alongside a deep understanding of mining processes data management and validation oreforming processes and 3D modelling techniques.
Key factors to your success include:
- Tertiary qualification in Geology (BSc. Geology or Applied Geology)
- 6 years industry experiences working as part of an operational team in an underground environment minimum of 2 years operating at a senior level
- Advanced proficiency with Vulcan (or similar) software
- Demonstrate and advanced understanding of mining processes in underground data management and validation processes oreforming processes and 3D modelling techniques
- WA Drivers Licence C Class
- Australian Working Rights
