The Culture and Climate team at Lincoln Park High School (LPHS) has created a workbased learning program to engage with a select group of students offering mentorship and shadowing opportunities to promote their success throughout their four years at LPHS. Through workbased learning (WBL) activities students are able to build awareness of potential careers in a particular industry explore options and start preparing for their future. WBL also provides opportunities for networking and relationshipbuilding to promote future collaboration with employer partners. This program will help students develop their leadership time management communication and study skills and learn about restorative justice practices. By integrating a range of workplace exposures and experiences with schoolbased activities and guidance over time students are encouraged to remain committed to their education through the completion of their personal and careerrelated goals.
Job Summary:
Student workers at LPHS will collaborate interact and work with CPS staff members in various schoolbased positions in order to learn about potential career paths and further their understanding of the realworld applications of academics and occupational training. This opportunity will provide handson learning to build core employability and occupational skills and will help them build relationships with professional adult role models. Additionally students will be provided with tutoring and mentorship to support improvement and success in their school career now while also preparing them for the longterm goal of becoming a student mentor by their senior year at LPHS.
This student worker position will be compensated for time worked on an hourly basis. The work schedule for this role will consist of an estimated 12 hours per week up to 3 hrs/day after school hours for 4 days per week with the potential for Saturday hours to support extracurricular activities as needed. Employment in this student worker role will continue for an anticipated period of 3 months beginning in March 2023 and ending in June 2023 with the possibility of program extension. Students will be supervised by the CPS employee that they are shadowing.

In order to qualify for this student worker position candidates must be nominated by a Lincoln Park High School staff member and must be actively enrolled as a CPS student attending their freshman or sophomore year of high school during theschool year. A valid work permit will be required for students under the age of 16.
