Junior Python Data Engineer

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Junior Python Data Engineer to join the data team of a leading financial asset management company. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with a strong foundation in Python and SQL to contribute to the support and development of applications from a data perspective while gaining valuable industry experience.

Responsibilities:

• Assist in the design and implementation of software components based on specifications. 
• Contribute to system integration and testing efforts under guidance. 
• Perform basic troubleshooting and resolve straightforward issues. 
• Conduct development testing of software components with supervision. 
• Collaborate with team members to support project efforts efficiently. 
• Execute data manipulation tasks ensuring highquality output. 
• Operate and maintain climate change models with appropriate operational controls. 
• Analyze input and output data for errors or inconsistencies and provide support in their resolution. 
• Assist in maintaining and improving analytics models for reliability and performance. 

Qualifications :

• 12 years of experience as a software developer using Python.
• Proficiency in working with lists tuples dictionaries and sets. 
• Basic file handling and memory management.
• Familiarity with simple decorators generators and async/await usage. 
• Understanding of basic OOP principles and standard Python modules (pytest re and pandas). 
• Basic SQL skills including: 
• Writing SELECT queries with filters and WHERE clauses. 
• Using aggregate functions like SUM and COUNT. 
• Understanding joins data types and basic window functions. 
• Exposure to multiprocessing and multithreading concepts is a plus. 
• Basic verbal and written communication skills with the ability to follow instructions and seek clarification when needed. 
• Demonstrates empathy and a collaborative spirit in team settings. 
• Basic task prioritization and organization skills. 
• Capable of estimating time for simple tasks and managing personal deadlines effectively. 
• Fluency in written and spoken English. 
• A proactive approach to problemsolving and a commitment to delivering highquality work. 
• A strong willingness to learn and grow within a collaborative team environment.

Nice to have:

• Exposure to cloud technologies like Docker or Kubernetes. 
• Knowledge of DevOps tools such as Git or Jenkins. 
• Familiarity with financial industry concepts or data analytics.
