What to expect.
Sheppard Pratts Nurse Extern Program is an 8week paid opportunity for nursing students in their final year or semester of an associate bachelors or graduate nursing program at an accredited school.
Youll have your choice of completing the program at the Towson campus the Baltimore/Washington campus or a combination of both depending on which patient populations you are interested in working with.
As a nurse extern you will:
- Engage in clinical observations across diverse disciplines and treatment approaches.
- Attend care team meetings and participate in planning and evaluating patient needs based on patient behaviors.
- Assist in providing a safe and therapeutic environment according to established policies and procedures.
Program schedule:
- Thursday June 12th: first day (inperson at the Towson hospital campus)
- Friday June 13th: training modules (virtual)
- Monday June 16th Friday June 20th: clinical orientation 40hour week at the Towson hospital campus)
- Monday June 23rd Friday August 8th: Handson program 16 hours per week at the hospital of your choice)
- Mandatory 4hour seminars will be held every other Friday at the Towson campus for the duration of the program.

What we need from you.
- Must be entering your final year or semester of an associate bachelors or graduate nursing program at an accredited school.
- Possession of a current basic life support (BLS) certification prior to orientation.
- Demonstrated competency throughout Sheppard Pratts extended clinical orientation.
- The pay range for this position is $18.50 per hr.
