AECOM is seeking a CIVIL HIGHWAY ENGINEER to be based in the Greater Philadelphia Area. AECOM has offices in Philadelphia and Conshohocken PA as well as Newark DE.
In this role you will provide technical leadership to teams working on medium to large scale transportation projects in the Greater Pennsylvania Area.
Current notable projects include:
- I95 RECONSTRUCTION (Philadelphia PA) Urban interstate reconstruction including interchange ramp and local roadway realignments traffic control and utility coordination in final design to mitigate level of service and improve existing conditions
- STATE RD RECONSTRUCTION (Bucks County PA) Suburban arterial reconstruction including rightofway plan development roadway geometry pavement design traffic control and utility coordination in preliminary engineering to mitigate existing roadway flooding
- SR1 RECONSTRUCTION (Chester County PA) Freeway reconstruction including profile adjustments interchange reconstruction interchange ramp realignments multiple roundabout designs trail designs and side road alignment adjustments.
- US22 RECONSTRUCTION (Allentown PA) Urban interstate widening from 4 to 6 lanes. Project Includes bridge replacement interchange reconfiguration stream relocation sound barriers safety improvements traffic control and utility coordination.
- I81 RECONSTRUCTION (Avoca Moosic and Scranton PA) Urban Interstate reconstruction including mainline widening 2 interchanges being fully reconstructed including ramp realignments intersection improvements rightof way coordination and structure coordination for 15 bridges along mainline and ramps.
The ideal CIVIL HIGHWAY ENGINEER candidate will be experienced in delegating tasks to less experienced engineers and be comfortable providing technical guidance and support to those individuals. The ideal candidate will also be a professional engineer licensed in Pennsylvania who has prior experience with PennDOT publications manuals and processes.

The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:
- Develop design criteria horizontal and vertical alignments superelevation barrier/guiderail design and spot elevation details
- Develop rigid and flexible pavement designs
- Prepare signing and pavement marking plans and details
- Prepare construction phasing plans and develop maintenance of traffic based on interdisciplinary coordination and constructability reviews
- Identify utility conflicts and coordinate resolutions based on interdisciplinary constructability reviews client feedback and utility needs
- Develop construction specifications quantities and cost estimates
- Implement 3D CADD modeling techniques
- Develop technical reports tables and graphics per client and/or internal AECOM standards
- Adhere to and promote AECOM quality procedures
- Complete interdisciplinary technical reviews
- Contribute to internal projectrelated staffing decisions to facilitate meeting client schedule scope and budget
- Prepare presentations that explain technical findings recommendations and limitations
- Work collaboratively as part of a larger design team to proactively meet the clients scope budget and schedule through ethical and responsible decision making.
- Provide support to AECOM project managers and department managers

- Generally free to determine work priorities based on direction from manager and project team leads
- Begins to interact directly with client to gather information and discuss project requirements
Qualifications :
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering plus four 4 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education with highway transportation projects located in the United States
- EIT Certification
- Valid US Drivers License required to visit project sites clients and other AECOM offices
- As a condition of employment selected candidate must pass a Motor Vehicle Records review
- Demonstrated knowledge of MicroStation and/or AutoCAD
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Familiarity with OpenRoads SignCAD or GuideSign and AutoTURN software programs
- Ability to obtain a Professional Engineering License (PE) within 12 years
- Design experience working on projects for PennDOT and/or the PA Turnpike Commission
- Ability and willingness to operate within a hybrid work environment with hybrid teams
- Ability to utilize spreadsheet word processing and standard office software
- Ability and willingness to offer mentorship to various levels of staff
