Terrestrial Energy is developing for nearterm commercial operation a zeroemissions cogeneration plant for global industry using its proprietary Integral Molten Salt Reactor (IMSR) fission technology in an innovative small and modular plant design. The IMSR is a nonLight Water Reactor of the Generation IV class that operates at the high temperature required for broad industrial relevance with transformative economic potential. The IMSR plant is capable of gridbased electric power generation and industrial cogeneration in many energyintensive industries including petrochemical and chemical synthesis for hydrogen and ammonia production. The IMSR plant offers a near 50 percent improvement in efficiency of electric power generation compared to Light Water Reactor nuclear plants. Its industrial cogeneration capability delivers to todays markets industrial competitiveness security of energy and zeroemissions industrial production. The IMSR plants use of existing industrial materials components and fuels supports its nearterm deployment setting the stage for a rapid global decarbonization of the primary energy system. To execute this plan we are now looking to add talented people to the team each of whom will:

The Civil Engineering Intern under the direction Civil/Structural Engineering Manager is primarily responsible for aiding the Civil Design team in the development analysis and design of civil systems. Other responsibilities include:

  • Prepare civil engineering design documents including calculations analysis and design reports;
  • Conduct research for design development and optimization;
  • Communicate and work with various technical disciplines to understand system design(s) and interfacing requirements
  • Contribute to timely resolution of civil design challenges and address risks;
  • Conduct presentations to interdisciplinary team and external parties; and
  • Interface with external vendors experts and design agencies.
  • Exposure to nuclear design concepts principles regulations codes and standards.

Requirements

  • Actively working towards a postsecondary degree or diploma in Civil Engineering with emphasis on Structural Engineering. Senior students or new grads preferred.
  • Strong problem identification and problem resolution skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Flexibility to adjust to shifting priorities and deadlines
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication (both written and verbal) skills
  • Skilled at developing and maintaining strong relationships across all levels of the organization and with external customers and vendors


Assets

  • Working knowledge of SAP 2000 and Mathcad
  • Demonstrated passion for nuclear energy
  • Entrepreneurship or other experience demonstrating selfmotivation and problem solving
  • Experience with or knowledge of nuclear power
