THE POSITION

We are looking for a committed Microbiologist 2 to join our vibrant team focusing on upholding regulations by managing the tasks associated with accrediting environmental laboratories that perform testing and analysis of environmental samples. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
In this position you will operate autonomously evaluating the compliance of environmental laboratories with state and national accreditation standards regulations and guidelines. Your assessments will cover various matrices including drinking water nonpotable water and solid chemical materials. A solid understanding of both basic and advanced microbiology along with a general knowledge of organics metals radiochemistry and inorganic nonmetals is crucial. Additionally you may serve as a witness in legal or administrative hearings. You will conduct internal audits of the Laboratory Accreditation Program and will be responsible for reading comprehending and applying current regulations and guidelines as well as suggesting modifications to enhance the environmental laboratory accreditation program.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Fulltime employment
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM Monday Friday with a 30minute lunch.
- Telework:You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) parttime up to 3 days per week. In order to telework you must have a securely configured highspeed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year as a Microbiologist 1 Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title as determined by the Office of Administration);or
- One year of professional laboratory work experience in microbiology and a bachelors degree that includes 20 credits in microbiology cellular biology molecular biology or bacteriology and 12 credits in chemistry or biochemistry;or
- A graduate degree in microbiology.
- Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
Conditions of Employment:
- This position requires possession of a valid Pennsylvania drivers license.
