Department: Department of Supportive Care
Work Model: OnSite
Reports to: Manager Department of Supportive Care
Hours: 37.5 hours per week additional hours maybe available
Salary: $24.82 $31.02  per hour (To commensurate with experience and consistent with UHN compensation policy)
Shifts: Weekdays; Monday Friday
Status: Temporary Full Time 15 months)
Closing Date: April 2 2025

Position Summary
The Department of Supportive Care (DSC) is made up of three divisions Psychosocial Oncology Cancer Rehab & Survivorship and Palliative Care. This position is to support the Cancer Rehab & Survivorship at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre. The successful candidate will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to perform administrative tasks such as greet patients in an outpatient clinical setting schedule patients send and track community outreach referrals etc.

Duties

  • Providing positive patient experiences in an outpatient clinical setting meeting quality standards set out by UHN including registering patients as needed in UHNs EPIC EMR (Electronic Medical Record) system
  • Support the timely and efficient processing of incoming referrals scheduling/rescheduling of patient appointments responding to patients general inquiries and cancelling patient appointments.
  • Complete administrative tasks that support data entry for patient tracking requirements and maintaining several electronic calendars
  • Utilizing knowledge of medical terminology to support physicians and other clinicians
  • Ensuring efficient operation of the office clinic spaces and front desks within scope of authority
  • Provide crosscoverage support as a member of an operational administrative team

Qualifications :

  • Completion of Secondary School or recognized equivalent
  • Completion of a recognized postsecondary office/medical administration program at the certificate level or equivalent
  • Two 2 years related administrative support experience
  • Experience working with EPIC EMR for managing referrals appointment scheduling and standard clinical operations is required
  • Experience working with database and spreadsheet software is an asset
  • Previous onthejob computer/wordprocessing in a Microsoft Office environment is preferred
  • Experience working in a teaching hospital environment is an asset
  • Knowledge of medical terminology is an asset 
  • Excellent organizational prioritization and time management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal customer verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to operate effectively in an interdisciplinary team
  • Ability to maintain and protect patient confidentiality
