This is an engineering position within the Power Delivery & Integration (PD&I) business of Hatch. The selected candidate is expected to execute various power delivery and integration projects in particular substation design projects at all stages of project development.
The Substation Engineer is required to work within a multidisciplinary team for the design of substations.He will participate in substation design at all stages of project development including concept prefeasibility feasibility detail design procurement and construction and also in substation asset management/condition studies. The Substation Engineer will coordinate his/her design activities with design activities undertaken by other engineering disciplines to maintain project schedules and ensure successful project completion. He may take on project management roles coordinating the activities of electrical P&C/SCADA/Telecom civil structural and other engineering and nonengineering disciplines. The Substation Engineer will also lead/participate in the preparation of project estimates engineering estimates and proposals and client engagement and business development activities.
This position is accountable to provide design activities in accordance with all applicable codes and standards including all of Hatchs policies and procedures such as Safety Environmental Quality Assurance and Quality Control.
As the successful candidate you will:
- Preparing of proposals (technical scope level of effort and cost estimates)
- Project Management experience
- Preparation of project technical specifications for material and equipment purchase and installation
- Design of electrical substation facilities including site and bus work layouts ground grids
- Design of control and protection facilities for substations including protective relaying SCADA and telecommunication facilities
- Delivery of accurate and thorough designs that will meet industry standards and specifications and meet good engineering practice with excellent constructability
- Review of internal and external designs for code compliance good design practice and constructability
- Resolving site queries attending site meetings and performing site inspections during the construction phase of projects
- Maintaining project documentation with respect to substation design and construction including completion packages asbuilt requirements and return data information
You bring to the role:
- A proven HSE mindset
- A degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized institution
- PE License certification is a plus
- 7 years of experience in substation electrical design and/or P&C/SCADA/telecom design at voltages of 69kV and up to 500kV class. The required level of specialization is deemed to be acquired via feasibilitylevel detailed design of at least two substation projects per year throughout the candidates career.Experience in development and implementation of protection settings is desirable but not mandatory.
Reporting to the USA Regional Manager for PD&I the position requires a good level of interpersonal communication skills as well as demonstrated design experience. Occasional travel to site locations is required.
