Job Description

Overview

Job Summary:

The Procurement Manager is responsible for developing implementing and overseeing the companys procurement policies objectives and initiatives. Focuses on the procurement sourcing and inventory management of materials required to support departments and functions of a major medical diagnostic manufacturer. Develops and maintains strategic supplier relationships; manages contracts and contractual relationships to deliver continuous improvement in delivery of goods and services by the supplying partners. Responsible for strategies to ensure department is aligned with the objectives of the business to add value mitigate supply chain risk and deliver cost savings. Manages operations and assigned direct reports. Responsible for the recruitment performance management and development of team. Provides leadership and direction required to achieve department and organizational goals. Leads and manages direct reports as a high performing team including staff development. Collaborates with senior management to meet business goals. Activities are performed in accordance with standard operating procedures Quality System safety and administrative regulations.

Responsibilities

Key Accountabilities:

  • Manages relationships and negotiations with key suppliers at a strategic level.
  • Negotiates contract terms with key suppliers to ensure delivery terms quality standards and technical and operational requirements.
  • Ensures procurement strategies and processes are in place to meet business objectives and operational needs in terms of price quality and delivery targets.
  • Tracks and reports metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness.
  • Evaluates and develops supply chain solutions including vendor managed inventory supplier consignments and safety stock.
  • Performs cost and scenario analysis and benchmarking.
  • Monitors performance of the department including developing analyzing and reporting KPls and trend data and identifying issues and opportunities for improvemint.
  • Prepares and presents reports as needed to track department and organizational goals.
  • Promotes the effective use of a Material Resources Planning (MRP) system including ongoing optimization and enhancements of the system.
  • Evaluates risks and challenges in the business and takes action to mitigate uncertainty and develop opportunities.
  • Builds the departments annual budget plan in collaboration with senior management.
  • Takes ownership of procurement policies guidelines and any associated documents.
  • Actively monitors inventory levels to minimize s.
  • Attends and supports ISO IVDR and other auditing processes and requirements as needed.
  • Implements and tracks cost savings initiatives and meeting annual cost savings budget.
  • Continually improves purchasing methods/processes.
  • Makes business decisions that are financially responsible and operationally effective in accordance with organizational policies Quality Systems and other regulatory requirements.
  • Plans and implements procedures policies and systems to fulfill the mission and goals of the company and department.
  • Creates approves and implements standard operating procedures (SOPs) and Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) in accordance with Quality System Regulations (QSR) and organizational policies.
  • Proactively communicates and collaborates with other managers upper management and other departments within the organization.
  • Manages special projects and/or other duties as assigned.
  • Leads and develops purchasing team members including expectations goal setting reviews training mentoring and support.
  • Foster interdepartmental relationships with personnel at all levels to ensure excellent communication and meet the needs of the business.
  • Support company growth through participation in procurement aspects of product launches and other projects.
  • Manages the daily operations of assigned area to ensure achievement of department and organizational goals.
  • Educates and manages employees to ensure compliance with applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) ISO FDA and other applicable Quality Systems regulations as well as with applicable Environmental Health & Safety Human Resources and all other regulatory and administrative policies.
  • Represents the Management Team and reflects the values of Werfen as a role model to all employees and customers.

Networking/Key Relationships

  • This position works regularly and collaboratively with staff in Werfens Receiving Quality Assurance Quality Control Production Planning Shipping and Finance teams.

Qualifications

Minimum Knowledge & Experience

  • Education:
    • Bachelors degree in supply chain management Business Administration Engineering or a related field. MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • Experience:
    • 5 years in strategic sourcing procurement or supply chain management preferably within the medical device or life sciences industry.
  • Industry Knowledge:
    • Deep expertise in supplier management global procurement and regulatory compliance.
    • Management has the discretion of substituting relevant work experience for a degree and/or making exceptions to the years of experience requirement.

Skills & Capabilities:

  • Proven track record of managing operations and developing high performing teams.
  • Enterprise resource planning (ERP) experience SAP preferred.
  • Expert level ability in MS Excel.
  • Preparation of reports and metrics and ability to present to senior management.
  • Demonstrated success in accurate and timely followup to requests from multiple sources.

Travel Requirements:

  • Occasional less than 10 of time

Salary Range:

$90000 $175000 annually

Individual compensation is based on the candidates experience skills knowledge education certifications internal equity budget and or other business and organizational needs.
