Role Overview & Responsibilities:
We are seeking an experienced SQL Operations DBA to oversee SQL upgrades and environment deployments in an onpremises infrastructure. This role involves managing the annual upgrade of approximately 3000 databases to maintain compatibility with endoflife (EOL) versions as well as designing and building new SQL environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- SQL Upgrades & Migrations: Lead SQL upgrades ensuring seamless transitions for databases reaching EOL.
- Environment Deployment: Gather requirements conduct sizing exercises and provision SQL environments with appropriate capacity and uptime considerations.
- SQL Installation & Configuration: Deploy and configure SQL instances tailored to business needs.
- Maintenance & Optimization: Manage patching backups and performance tuning to maintain high availability.
- Troubleshooting & Performance Analysis: Diagnose and resolve issues related to storage latency network performance and system inefficiencies using SQL queries.
- Operational Awareness: Assess infrastructure dependencies including hard drive rewrite latencies and network bottlenecks that may impact database performance.
