Department Description

The US West Digital Consulting group consists of 18 multidisciplinary team members operating within offices or remotely from the east to the west coast. We frequently team with many other departments and business lines within the larger AECOM. One of our main service offerings is asset advisory services which enables organizations to have effective capital and operations and maintenance (O&M) planning strategies for dealing with maintenance repair and replacement of their assets and infrastructure to enable them to achieve their goals. We believe the client must have critical asset data that provides sound information from which they can make accurate credible and defensible investment decisions. This includes having the capability to predict the cost timing impact and alternatives of identified needs.

Job Description Details

The internship role includes learning and advancing skills to support our wideranging projects. Activities include determining efficient ways to collect data across all facility types customizing the technology to support different scopes of work testing and deployment of inhouse designed software and performing facility condition assessments in multidisciplinary teams for various building components. These components include structural civil architectural mechanical electrical plumbing and fire protection systems. The internship position will also support data management analysis and report preparation.

The ideal candidates will be willing and able to learn new skills and methods on challenging field and office assignments in a collaborative supportive positive team environment. The candidate will gain experience through learning on the job and participating in development opportunities enabling professional growth and advancements.

AECOM is seeking a Digital Consulting Intern to join the West Digital Consulting team in Dallas TX. Internships are designed to introduce and build essential handson skills that differ from those attained in the academic arena and help to enhance the transition from student to professional. While this position will primarily work with the West Digital Consulting team interns are assigned duties that will provide broad wellrounded learning. This position could provide the opportunity for the intern to work on projects with other AECOM business lines including design transportation energy sustainability strategic planning and business development.

This position is expected to begin in May 2025.

The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:

  • Conduct inventory and assessments of client facilities learning to properly identify and classify building systems and components.
  • Learn to identify and describe deficiencies ranging from concerns to critical issues and offer recommendations for correction in technical detail for future project planning and cost estimation.
  • Utilize mobile tablets with builtin cameras to document building system components and equipment during assessments.
  • Perform quality assurance procedures on selforiginated work such as data and reports.
  • Collaborate with peers by reviewing their work and actively participating in postproject reviews.
  • Work under direct supervision following instructions and established practices.
  • Adhere strictly to AECOMs safety policies.
  • Research current asset managementrelated topics at local State and Federal levels.
  • Assist with other duties assigned by senior staff and/or Project Managers. This position will involve planning and project development activities for asset management projects under the supervision of more senior staff.

Qualifications :

Minimum Requirements

  • Candidates must be pursuing a bachelors degree or higher in Civil Engineering Mechanical Engineering Computer Science Energy/Sustainability Architecture Planning GIS Data Analytics Urban Studies or a similar field and must have completed at least one year of study. Candidates who have recently graduated with a bachelors degree and plan to continue with the masters degree are eligible to apply. Recent graduates must have been enrolled in their bachelors degree in the most previous school term with an interest in pursuing an advanced degree in the same or similar discipline at the conclusion of the internship.
  • Due to the nature of the work U.S. Citizenship is required
  • Valid U.S. Drivers License required to visit project sites clients and other AECOM offices.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word PowerPoint and Excel).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to proficiently communicate both internally and externally to build collaborative relationships.
  • Presentation skills to synthesize data and research into compelling reports and graphics.
  • Knowledge of using GIS for spatial analysis.
  • Knowledge in developing and presenting illustrative reports and graphics utilizing Adobe CS or other graphics software packages.

  • Relocation assistance is not available for this position.
  • Sponsorship for US employment authorization is not available for this position now or in the future.
  • As a condition of employment the selected candidate must pass a Motor Vehicle Records review.
  • Responsibilities may include the following actions:
    • Frequent climbing kneeling and crawling to navigate spaces within a facility including mechanical rooms mezzanines and flat roofs often requiring the use of secured ladders or interior access hatches.
    • Frequent walking and standing while conducting onsite assessments across large complexes (i.e. up to 100000 facility square feet per day).
    • Visual and auditory capability to observe listen to and assess equipment to determine wear age and repair requirements for systems and equipment.
    • Tactile skills to navigate and enter data into the tablet.
    • Ability to travel to project locations including driving flying and overnight stays. Travel could encompass up to 50 of the time.
