Job Description

Sociology Teacher Surrey Secondary School Understanding Society Empowering Change

An Outstanding secondary school in Surrey seeks a dedicated and insightful Sociology Teacher to join their Humanities/Social Sciences department. This is a fulltime permanent position primarily teaching Key Stages 4 and 5. The school is committed to fostering critical thinking about social issues and empowering students to become active and informed citizens.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging and challenging Sociology lessons that explore the complexities of social life.
  • Cover a range of sociological topics theories and research methods.
  • Encourage students to critically analyze social structures inequalities and power dynamics.
  • Develop students research communication and argumentation skills.
  • Prepare students for success in Sociology examinations (e.g. GCSE ALevel).
  • Contribute to the development of the Sociology curriculum incorporating contemporary social issues and debates.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • A degree in Sociology or a closely related field.
  • Proven experience teaching Sociology at the secondary level preferably including ALevel.
  • Strong subject knowledge and a passion for sociology.
  • Excellent communication and classroom management skills.
  • The desire to teach Sociology
