Job Description

What will you be doing 

As a FPGA specialist you will join our team in Birmingham to support our activities within the aerospace sector to work on exciting engine control systems projects within the aerospace sector. You will be part of a dynamic team contributing to the design and manufacture of highperformance systems that enhance the fuel efficiency and overall performance of nextgeneration jet engines. This is an exceptional opportunity to apply your FPGA expertise in a challenging and highimpact environment at the forefront of aviation technology. 

Your main responsibilities will be: 

  • Lead the development and optimisation of FPGAbased solutions for engine control systems including electronic engine controllers fuel pumps and fuel metering units.
  • Work on complex aerospace projects delivering highquality designs that meet stringent performance safety and reliability standards.
  • Collaborate with crossfunctional teams to ensure successful integration of FPGA hardware with embedded software systems.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of fuel efficiency and performance of modern jet engines through innovative FPGA design.
  • Manage project timelines deliverables and technical documentation ensuring alignment with client and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and support in troubleshooting and resolving design challenges.

Qualifications :

Experience skills and qualifications required: 

  • Bachelors degree or higher in Electrical Engineering Aerospace Engineering or a related field.
  • Strong expertise in FPGA design particularly with VHDL and Verilog.
  • Proven experience in aerospace or related highperformance sectors particularly working on engine control systems.
  • Experience with tools such as Xilinx Altera or other FPGA development platforms.
  • Familiarity with hardware/software integration and embedded systems.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a clientfacing environment ensuring successful delivery of projects within strict deadlines.
