Job Purpose
The overall purpose of the job is to inspect test repair install and modify electrical components and systems as well as perform general electrical maintenance to ensure smooth running of the daytoday operations of the dairy plant.
Key duties and responsibilities
a) Test and maintain electric motors variable frequency drives and control systems to ensure proper working condition.
b) Install maintain test and repair plant lighting and electrical equipment.
c) Ensure electrical equipment operate at optimum efficiency and effectiveness at all times by routine monitoring and checks against predefined checklists.
d) Undertake planned preventive and reactive maintenance of dairy plant equipment ranging from automatic dairy specific pasteurization and processing to dairy milk packaging equipment and more generic equipment so as to identify the root cause of problems and develop solutions to maximize efficiency across the plant.
e) Maintain records of maintenance and repair work by preparing reports documentation and correspondence.
f) Continuously monitor generator use and operations in case of power outages at the plant to ensure smooth changeovers.
g) Respond to all issues electrical and machinery reported by production operators including attending to machine breakdowns as and when they occur.
h) Assist staff with information regarding electrical systems within the plant and offsite locations.
i) Raise material requisitions for electrical tools and equipment in a timely manner.
j) Ensure strict adherence to all environment health and safety requirements.
k) Escalate all incidents accidents and nonconformity to health and safety requirements as and when they occur.
l) Provide electrical support to MCCs and Old Farm Honey factory.
m) Attend all relevant meetings and training courses as and when required; and
n) Transfer knowledge to our colleagues.

Knowledge experience and qualifications required
Grade Test Certificate in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent from a recognized institution
Minimum of 2 years working experience.
