Job Description100 Data Analysis: There is currently no systematic mechanism or data collection effort to capture KUs entrepreneurship ecosystem. In conjunction with program leadership and university leadership (e.g. AIRE) this position will design a data collection process execute this process and help to create a sustainable data collection process to allow for continuous data updating. Duties include but are not limited to:
- Collaborate with university leadership and stakeholders to define the scope and methodology for capturing entrepreneurship ecosystem data.
- Develop and implement data collection tools and protocols including surveys webbased forms and data extraction methods from digital platforms.
- Construct and maintain a centralized data repository or warehouse to house collected information ensuring data integrity security and accessibility.
- Analyze visualize and interpret collected data using tools such as Excel Tableau or Power BI to inform reporting and decisionmaking.
- Establish and document ongoing processes for continuous data updating including communication channels for stakeholders to submit new information and regular data refresh schedules.

- During the semester term of the appointment the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: 1 have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or 2 be preenrolled in upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or 3 be enrolled in summer session or 4 be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments).
- Prior experience in data collection database management or business intelligence projects.
- Familiarity with basic data analytics techniques including the use of generative AI for data exploration.
- Experience with entrepreneurship or innovation ecosystems including knowledge of startup networks or entrepreneurial communities.
- Ability to leverage professional networking platforms (e.g. LinkedIn X/Twitter) and institutional databases for investigative research.
Position OverviewThe University of Kansas entrepreneurship program seeks a Graduate Assistant to aid a universitywide initiative to better understand capture and report on our entrepreneurship ecosystem.
Jayhawk entrepreneurs include our students faculty staff researchers clinicians and alumni. Understanding the entrepreneurial activity of these individuals the trajectory of their activities and the outcomes they create is critical to understanding the impact of Jayhawk entrepreneurs to our state region and beyond. This understanding also helps inform KU policy practice and investment in fostering and growing the universitys entrepreneurship ecosystem.
The Graduate Assistant will work with the Chancellors office the School of Business and other stakeholders in designing a data collection project infrastructure needs and data collection processes.
The position requires advanced technical skills (i.e. MS Excel Teams Tableua/PowerBI); investigative skills (i.e. LinkedIn X generative AI); and persuasive communication skills (i.e. interfacing with universitys leadership Jayhawk entrepreneurs and reporting). The deliverable is a data warehouse cataloging KUs entrepreneurship ecosystem and also a process for ongoing data collection and reporting. Graduate students in business analytics and/or with experience using Tableau or Power BI to manage complex data sets are encouraged to apply.
The selected applicant will be expected to meet regularly with entrepreneurship program leadership to define the data collection scope and project plan. The 16 hours per week work schedule is subject to negotiation between the selected applicant and program leadership. This position is designated as oncampus. Any alternative or remote work schedules will comply with School guidelines and KU policy.

Per the State of Kansas student employees may hold concurrent appointments not to exceed maximum appointment and hours worked levels. However concurrent student appointments must be of matching FLSA designation (exempt/salaried or nonexempt/hourly).
