The Processing Support Specialist Lead oversees and guides the operational aspects of specimen accessioning processing and distribution to ensure seamless workflow within hospital departments and external referral laboratories. This role is also responsible for processing support employee training and competency management. The Processing Support Specialist Lead ensures accurate and timely laboratory services to uphold high standards of quality and performance.
Responsibilities
Oversees daily laboratory processing operations and staff performance to ensure consistent adherence to quality and production standards for accurate and reliable results. Oversees all processes associated with specimens received into the laboratory including reviewing the test orders ensuring positive patient identification accessioning specimens into the laboratory information system and distributing to the appropriate laboratory department for testing to maintain specimen integrity in diagnostic outcomes. Provides guidance troubleshooting support and training for current and new employees to foster staff development and competence. Responds effectively to customer concerns identifying improvement areas and implementing strategies to elevate customer satisfaction. Manages staffing levels and supplies within the departmental budget to ensure efficient and responsible use of resources. Participates in the implementation of process changes to achieve departmental and organizational goals to foster continuous improvement. Upholds staff adherence to regulatory safety and corporate requirements to maintain a secure and compliant working environment. Performs other duties as assigned.
