Your opportunity

Dillons Transportation & Facilities technical group is looking for an Electrical Engineer to join our multidisciplinary team of professionals. You will have the opportunity to work on new and exciting projects while providing clients with a fully integrated and superior customer experience.

In Dillon we function as a single team across 25 offices nationwide allowing you to collaborate with teams and colleagues across the country daily. The role is available in our Winnipeg office.

What your day will look like

Design & Project Management

• Provide full spectrum of project delivery from requirement gathering preliminary design design construction support site reviews commissioning and troubleshooting for industrial manufacturing commercial municipal institutional and infrastructure projects.
• Involved in the design for power and electrical systems including but not limited to power distribution Low and Medium Voltage Motor Control Lighting systems Emergency Power generation Fire Alarm Security
• Involved in the design of voice and data communication systems
• Involved in the design of instrumentation and control systems including P&IDs Instrumentation specifications loop diagrams PLC systems SCADA systemsPrepare technical specifications drawings and contract documents
• Prepare technical reports
• Prepare construction cost estimates
• Witness testing and verification of Electrical and Control systems
• Assist with thorough site investigation/review for the purpose of creating deficiency reports or determining existing site conditions during the design process of renovation projects.
• Assist with construction administration (CA) tasks including shop drawing review responding to requests for information (RFI) and issuing contemplated change orders (CCO).
• Complete the review of safe work practices and performing risk assessments for employee tasks.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members including engineers planners scientists and technical and administrative support staff
• Coordinate with Utilities equipment suppliers contractors and clients on regular basis
• Peer review to ensure all design meets quality and applicable standards including Canadian Electrical Code CSA codes and regulations UL National Building codes NFPA and others

Business Development

• Contribute to business development activities including client need research preparation of project proposals and presentations
• Business travel to other Dillon offices upon request

Learning and Development

• Commit to selfdevelopment and ongoing learning and professional development
• Input to the career development of junior staff including technical direction training recommendations coaching and mentoring
• Contribute to Dillons corporate profile through active participation in professional associations and committees

What you will need to succeed

• A degree in electrical engineering from an accredited university
• Licensed to practice as a professional engineer or eligible to be licensed within six months
• A minimum of five 5 years of related professional experience

• Proven experience in the preparation and design of Low Voltage Electrical Systems including:
• Electrical Equipment physical arrangement selections sizing and locating
• One line diagrams and engineering studies for equipment application including metering protection and control
• Low and Medium Voltage Power design and specification
• Design calculations such as load analysis and calculations Voltage drop equipment sizing bus/cable tray support loading conduit and wire sizing.
• Emergency Power generator sizing
• Grounding and bonding
• Short Circuit Arc Flash and Relay Coordination calculations and design
• Overhead and underground electrical design
• Motor Control centre design
• Lighting design and calculations
• Fire alarm systems
• Hazardous area classification
• Video surveillance systems
• Security access control systems
• Communication systems (Data telephone internet)
• Proven experience in industrial control systems including:
• Process and Instrumentation Diagrams P&IDs
• PLC and SCADA system design
• SCADA systems and related control and instrumentation design
• Industrial control network design
• Instrumentation loop diagrams and wiring schematics
• Instrumentation selection and specification
• Preparation of Process Control Narratives
• Startup and commissioning
• Proven experience in the preparation of project specifications for material and equipment purchase and installation
• Demonstrated abilities in the delivery of accurate and thorough designs that meet industry standards specifications and good engineering practices with excellent constructability
• Demonstrated success in project management and business development various types of projects
• Proven experience in the review of internal and external designs for code compliance good design practice and constructability including Canadian Electrical Code CSA codes and regulations UL National Building codes NFPA and others
• Coordination with various power and communications utilities and companies for successful completion and connection of power and communication lines to existing and new networks
• Demonstrated experience in maintaining complete project documentation with respect to design and construction including all completion packages asbuilt requirements and return data information
• Demonstrated success of team collaboration with technical professionals on multidisciplinary projects
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills along with both verbal and written communication
• Experience with PLC and SCADA system programming and configuration considered an asset
• Experience with AGi32 Lighting Analysis software considered an asset
• Experience with power system software such as EasyPower ETAP or SKM considered an asset
