Job Description

ABOUT WILLIAMS LAKE FIRST NATION (WLFN)

The Williams Lake First Nation (WLFN) or the Texelcemc (people of WLFN) have belonged to the Secwepemc (or Shuswap) Nation for over 6500 years. Today the WLFN community includes a growing population of over 800 registered members who live on reserve in Sugar Cane in nearby Williams Lake BC and across the globe.

POSITION

Reporting to the Emergency Program Coordinator.

Employment Type

Full time Temporary 28 hours per week. Starting May 1st till end of August. You must be enrolled in a secondary or post secondary institution Or graduated within the past six months.

Probation Period

3 months from the date of hire.

Education Required

Applicants will be enrolled in a degree diploma or certificate related to Business or Emergency Management.

Experience Required

Experience with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft 365.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Assist team members with emergency planning and special projects.

2. Conduct research perform analysis and input data (e.g. identifying best and emerging practices in emergency management).

3. Assist in maintaining a functional emergency operations center (e.g. review testing and exercising procedures/equipment).

4. Prepare or edit content for the programs social media.

5. Plan organize coordinate and manage daily assigned work.

6. Contributes to the WLFNs ongoing success by accomplishing other duties as required or assigned.

Preference will be given to those of Aboriginal Ancestry per Section 161 of the Canadian Human Rights Act.
