Description

Prepares and administers radiopharmaceuticals for use in both diagnostic studies therapeutic treatments. It creates and enhances diagnostic images using a variety of imaging equipment and tools. Collects biologic specimens and prepares data for interpretation by physicians. Follows radiation safety guidelines and documents radio pharmaceutical usage for regulatory compliance. May require a bachelors degree in a related area.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Requires a certification from the American Registry of Radiologic technologists (ARRT) or the nuclear medicine technology certification board (NMTCB) and a state license to practice.
  2. Workers closely managed works on projects slash matters of limited complexity in a support role typically requires zero to two years of related experience.
  3. Explain medical procedures to patients and answer any questions they may have.
  4. Follow safety procedures to protect the patients and themselves from unnecessary radiation exposure.
  5. Prepare and administer radioactive to patients.
  6. Monitor and watch for any unusual reactions patients may have to .
  7. Operate imaging equipment.
  8. Maintain detailed procedure records.
  9. Follow safety and disposal radiation procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. A Nuclear Medicine Technologist position requires a minimum of an associate degree in nuclear medicine prefer individuals with a bachelors degree.
  2. Some candidates may become qualified for the position by combining a 12monthcertification program in nuclear medicine technology with an associate or bachelors degree program in a health field such as nursing or radiologic technology.
