Job Description

Description

The position is responsible for manual and clerical duties which include receiving and distributing a widely diversified array of returned materials in a warehouse setting. Works with minimal supervision. Although the location of the position is in Newton NJ from time to time it may be required to undertake duties at other Thorlabs campus locations.

Essential Job Functions include the following but are not limited to:

  • Research analyze and sort the various RMAs that are received each day.
  • Accurately and efficiently process each RMA at time of delivery as well as verify received RMA against documentation using current ERP.
  • Adhere to the appropriate workflow process based on type of return and root cause.
  • Collaborate with RMA Department to rectify problems such missing or incorrect information required for disposition.
  • Ensure all products requiring incoming inspection are directed to the appropriate department including packaging and shipping to external entities.
  • Deliver returned products to the individual Business Units designated areas.
  • Collaborate with accounting on issues by resolving receiving errors.
  • Provide assistance to coworkers to ensure RMA guidelines are properly followed.

In addition to the essential functions and duties listed above all positions are also responsible for:

  • Meeting company standards pertaining to quantity and quality of work performed on an ongoing basis performing all work related tasks in a manner that is in compliance with all Company policies and procedures.
  • Adhering to Company policies procedures and directives regarding standards of workplace behavior in completing job duties and assignments.

The Company retains the right to change or assign other duties to this position.

Physical Activities:

Work may be active could stand or sit for long durations and/or perform repetitious work at times. The employee may lift or move objects up to 20 pounds. Employees must grasp manipulate or assemble parts and components that are often very small. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate however may be noisy at times. Must be able to wear appropriate clothing and personal protective equipment such as but not limited to masks glasses gloves and specialty garments. The required PPE and training allow for the safe handling and processing of chemicals like adhesives lubricants and solvents and safe operation of jobrelated equipment and tools.



Requirements

Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years of warehouse distribution or receiving experience.

Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent or equivalent work experience

Specialized Knowledge and Skills:

  • Selfstarter capable of working independently and able to handle changing priorities.
  • Demonstrate time management skills with attention to detail and highly organized.
  • Teamoriented with effective interpersonal skills that allow successful business interactions with cross functional partners of a variety of work styles and personalities.
  • Possess a continuous improvement mindset pursuing opportunities to streamline the workflow process to maximize operational efficiencies.
  • Working knowledge on basic computer use (Microsoft Office) and communication tools including MS ERP Axapta preferred.
  • Ability to multitask while being highly organized.
  • Ability to address changing priorities.
  • Basic knowledge of Inventory Control Accounting and receiving procedures as well as the RMA process.
  • REASONING ABILITY: Must be able to understand written work instructions and packing slips for a wide range of products.
  • MATHEMATICS ABILITY: Basic mathematic skills are required.
